Billericay 3-2 Wealdstone

Good win in the end I guess, but another frustrating performance - why do we keep hitting aimless long balls towards Flack and Bricknell? There is just no point, they're not going to beat a couple of 6 foot centre halves in the air.

As with the previous games when we got the ball down and played it about a bit we looked miles better. Another impressive performance from Bricknell to take him to 3 goals for the season, good to see Shave get a goal as well.

Squad down to the bare bones a bit for this game - always disappointing when players take holidays during the season. Need the injured players to get fit quick really - BWG was hoping to be back for the Carshalton game.

Worster, Semanshia, Dumas, Clarey, McSweeney, Shave, Marron, Hunter, Flack (Buckfield), Bricknell, Ferguson

SNU: Burbridge, Chatting, West, Keys

It certainly is hard work watching Billericay some times!! Our games with Wealdstone normally seem to turn out exciting and this was no exception.

We didn't seem at the races in the first half, Wealdstone's 1st goal was very well worked and their second a good hit, although it did seem to go in the middle of the goal. Had they scored with a free-kick that hit the post, maybe the game would have been beyond us.

I'm sure the management will point to a change in formation for our second half improvement but IMO it was equally as much about a change in attitude from some of our senior players. Once we got going there was only going to be one winner and we hit the woodwork twice in addition to our three goals.

I didn't really see the incident at the end clearly, but Worster did seem to get the rough end of that deal. One thing I would say though is when we've just gone 3-2 up with minutes to go we should be trying to quieten the game down rather than wind it up. Players should not get involved in debating societies with opposition fans.

We've shown though that we have a squad that's capable of surviving a pretty accute injury situation and indeed win the game against this standard of opposition. Hopefully on Monday we'll be able to play for 90 minutes.

Well done to the lads for coming back. Not for the first time we've shown the character to do this. Let's hope we can continue our 2nd half showing on Monday. MOTM for me was Bricknell, he worked tirelessly and looked sharp in front of goal.

Come on you bluessss!!!

I think well done to the team is in order for coming back but if we had played with the same purpose fo 90 minutes (even for 80 minutes) we wouldn't need to praise the players for a come back but praise them for a "jolly good" performance for tucking away a "standard" Ryman League side...Still, 3 points is 3 points and if we can scrap and fight and get 'em by not playing to our potential, then we have little to worry about when we're up to full potential.

It appears that one Wealdstone supporter thought that Ronnie did not deserve the red as follows

Quote:
Papali was then involved in an altercation with their keeper and both were sent off, although to be fair, Papali was the guilty party here as he simply walloped their keeper in the face with a right hander. The keepers reply certainly wasnt as decisive but the hopeless referee sent the pair of them off. I'm certainly not making excuses, but the referee wasnt very good.

Still, what is done is done...And we have 6 points from 9. Not a bad start, me thinks and interesting to see that with three games gone, there is only one of the punters favorites are above us, in the shape of Dover...Long way to go, I know but worth a comment.

Do you have the time when Buckfield came on?

Another thing: The league table provided by fotballwebpages and used both on the official site and on my site, is not correct. They say that the match between Ashford Town and Tooting & Mitcgam ended 4-0, but the correct score is 7-0.

That score changes both the top and the bottom of the table.

You can watch the correct table at my manually updated javatable on http://www.btfc.no/tabelljava.html or at another's site.

I'll guess that footballwebpages will correct the score soon.

Another question: Only 386 at New Lodge? I really hope that attendances gets better soon...

First half we were woeful. Even taking into consideration missing players, we looked poor and a better side than Wealdstone would've buried us. BUT, as soon as Bricknell stroked home the first, we looked a changed team. Confidence was up and we played with belief and tempo, from there on in we were going to be the only winners. Bricknell deserved his goals, two classy finishes and Shave deserved to score the winner for his work rate alone.
