more a whisper than a bang

as the table topping dover along with the famed crabble army came to the leafy glades of upminster except there was only about 70 away supporters and quiet as well they were on a poor day all around in the ryman premier for attendences....

perfect weather and a perfect pitch set the scene and a pretty even first half saw the urchins go in for their orange slices 1-0 up....more tempo and mostly urchins going forward after the break and a couple of good chances missed and never really looked like conceding the lead and godders was MOM by a long way (until he went off with 10 to go)

good performance from the urchins as they bounced back from tuesdays poor do and dover may have been pre season favourites but they look a little light weight for my liking at premier level and may well struggle come the muddy old winter matches...we'll see and time will tell but a good day all around in the late summer sunshine and hopefully our visitors enjoyed themselves today on their first visit to the stadium..

well done all and onwards to heybridge on bank holiday monday...kick off 3pm..

i think Steffan Ball looked lively when he came on, and he has pace which are team lacks. Styles and Curley dominated the midfield, and Tommo filling in at left back for the first half was brilliant and gave 110% as always, Kris Lee looked good and was chasin everthing, All of the back 4 were good, a much better 2nd half than first, and i feel we was lucky to not conceed a penalty in the last minute, cos from where i was standing in looked inside. First clean sheet of the season. My MoM Goddard

We were lots better in the second half I think and Steffan Ball gave us a few different options. Tommo seemed much more comfortable when he moved into midfield and it was good to see Donny Barnard back. Godders was superb and will be hard to displace from the team if he keeps playing like this.

I think Dale has improved and his throwing distribution is much better than last year and created opportunities to attack rather than just punt it long.

Hodges was quiet but was that due to injury?

Solid start to the season. Roll on Heybridge

Good solid dislay....as it was this time last year against Chelmo.

Good substitutions by the gaffa, i think, and we allways looked comfortable.

Dover were disapponting and why didn't Hassentiller bring himself on ?????

Roll on Monday............

enjoyed todays game.

the second half was a better performance by the team.

thought Dale, Steffan and Richard played very well.

Would like to see more of Steffan and Ross up front like at Ramsgate in second half! smile

i can see a good thrashing coming soon, maybe on monday at Heybridge or away at Margate! grin bolt
