Platt and Dickens injured.

I think I need some help in fathoming this out.

According to the website we only had 3 subs and one was Calvin Maye so you might as well say we had 2 subs from a possible 5.

Are there any other clubs in this league who had 2 subs on the bench?

Ok, some of the under 18's were working but surely not all of them? So why wern't some of the under 18's added to the squad to make up the numbers?

People keep mentioning John Ellis but he is not down as a squad member so i think we can assume he is not in the squad.

According to the papers Sweetman let Brian Connor go because he couldn't guarantee him a place. Sounds a bit of a ridiculous statement now.

Platt and Dickems were injured but where was Tom Windsor?

IMO we probably have the smallest and one of weekest squads in the division and if Sweetman doesn't make some major additions to the squad we are going to be again in a relegation dogfight.

I rember one or two coming on here and saying friendlies don't matter, sadly as usual so wrong. Those friendlies gave the supporters and team false hopes, and did not show up the glaring troubles the team has until the Witney game and after, the point being we could not beat inferior oposition. This obviously led the deluded manager into thinking his hand picked team was okay and up for the challenge-its okay to say we only have 4 defenders on the books so they have no need to worry about their places-but thats laughable if they dont try or aren't up to the mark-get shot of them before its to late.

So far we have been hammered by two teams that I promise you will not be in contention for promotion come the end of season.

Good to see all these none registered posters who were not at the game slagging off the team -t0ssers!

Those who went to the game, and I was one of around 60, will report that it was a far better performance than the result reflects and that the team worked far better as a unit and created as many chances as the oposition.

Having Gumbs on for 90 mins was hard work for him but high balls into the box were won by him and there was far better service from the middle of the field. I also belive that his passion rubs off on the other players and lifts them.

The defence was improved yet I still fell chnges need to take place here otherwise we will still leak too many due to the size, speed and age of the defence.

Jacko in goal had a steady game and made some good saves.

The other area we need to work on is releasing the ball quicker to other players once we get into the last third of the field as mommentum is lost and the oposition defence can regroup given that time.

Should have had a penalty 1st half - the penalty 2nd half was never a penalty - consistantly poor reffing - respect!

Noted Dickens & Platt in the bar before the game comparing injurys and hair products!

Highlights off the field - national anthem for the line up, and Radders and Matt Cousins diving to save the ball and then rolling down the hill and then being appluded by the bench.

To those who are so keen to slag off (RWG etc.)- are you really Slough fans or would you be better off at Burnham or Windsor?

So has everyone changed their minds about Dickens now? All of a sudden it seems like the fans like him!!!

No one really slagged off Dickens, just the right-hand side problem as it was clear he is not a right winger, but a central midfielder.

I didn't go on Tuesday, but everyone that did agreed with SR in saying that it was a better performance.

Gumbs did well with a full 90 minutes under his belt, and for once he wasn't the tallest on he pitch.

Defence - we have to keep aware on set pieces, and we are always being caught on the break, like we were a few seconds after we should have had a penalty in the first half.

I though that Tom did well when he came on, he was willing to take players on, and also tried to get the ball back if he lost it.

I enjoyed the national anthem, that was quite funny, especially as they were lining up in front of about 15 people in the stand, at the time.

The other highlight was the goalkeeping behind the goal in the second half, and Sweets applauding you and Steve R. saying that Radders would be signed up soon, when you shouted "get him on contract"

I felt sorry for the lady doing the food though, apparently she had just came out of hospital, and then had to deal with our traveling bods.

It was a very very long day.

Are you only allowed to "slag off the team" if you are registered then?? Does that make you qualified to have an opinion?? lol.

Who's hair looked better?? Dickens or Platt?

Yes RWG, losing 4-1 to a 'bum team' who have 7 points from their first 3 games, and who beat Didcot - a team which a lot of people have tipped for the league title or promotion this year - 2-0 away in the opening game. Shows what you know about this league and the Midlands league from which Cinderford came from I believe.

Also if you read the quote from Staines Rebel properly you will see that he was commenting on the anonymous posters who did NOT attend the game and were posting messages slagging off the team within 40mins of the end of the match - long before most Slough fans could get home.

i hope it can be kept friendly

oh well both slough and spurs lose again

we must get somthing tommrow against thatchem or the mire could quite easily set in espcialy with the fairly importent game on sat in the FAC against proberbly dangerous abingdon side

maybe we will catch both out with a bit of luck and spirit we don't seem to have at the momment

I am fine David hope you are ok - it looks like RWG has forgoten the saying "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me", it looks like he prefers to use his fists than brain power.

In any case David, RWG has only attened 2 games this year - Witney & North Leigh, so I am not sure what he is basing his information on with such limited game time.

Hope you are feeling better and recovered from the long trip yesterday and ready for tommorow and you are right it would be nice to pick up something from the next two games - we need a cup run - something like the Wasall run where we played against a team 96 places higher and won - never had been done before - not even the "great sides" of the 60's, 70's, 80', or 90's.

It's perhaps easy to say this after another heavy defeat, but yesterday wasn't actually too bad.

The first half was very even. Although we didn't create much except a Pritchard effort parried wide, we should have had a penalty, but then Cinderford went up the other end and made it 2-0 just before half time.

The start of the second half was the same old problem, out of the blocks slowly and we concede quickly again from a set piece situation. But then we went on to dominate a large part of the second half, won a penalty, and unlucky not to score any more.

We need 5 or 6 players IMO, being two defenders, at least two midfielders and another striker. I'd like to see us a threat on both flanks (Gray was largely anonymous yesterday and neither Roberts or Riddell works on the right for me). We badly need cover in defence and backup for the partnership of DJ and Platt which will hopefully get off the ground soon. Gumbs worked like a trojan yesterday, but can't play 90 minutes every match.

Some people will take the doom and gloom approach but things will get better. Already we have a better squad than at any point last season, I just think work needs to go into the defence and attracting a couple of new creative midfield players to the club.

For what it's worth I think Cinderford will surprise a few this season. They are big, strong and organised, which is pretty much all you need for a good season in this league.
