The thoughts of Wealdstone boss, Gordon Bartlett, following their defeat at Ashford Town on Tuesday, as reported in the Harrow Observer:-

 

"We were poor," he said. "Our overall performance after they scored the first goal has given me real cause for concern. We looked flat whereas Ashford looked more sharper, determined and were hungrier than us.

 

"For all the positives of pre-season, in the two league games we've played so far there has not been enough fight to really influence games. It is a concern because we never saw that coming."

 

Bartlett takes his side to Billericay Town on Saturday before the Stones entertain Boreham Wood on Bank Holiday Monday (both 3pm), and is targeting four points.

 

"I'm not going to panic - I've got total belief in the players I've signed," added the manager. "Billericay are a fancied side and will be up there at the end of the season, so that will be a tough one. As for Boreham Wood, we beat them three times last season yet they've won both their games so far (this season).

 

"The lads just need to have more determination and belief in their own ability."
