Hi, I would really like to know some info about Woodford Town who were voted out in 2003 like where they played there home games and what colours they used to wear. I'd be very grateful if you could give me some info. Cheers

Andy

I am sure i used to pass their old ground when i worked down that way for a short spell about 3-4 years ago. If it is the same place it is not far from Woodford Bridge. The grass on the pitch had to be 6 foot tall though.

Hi Andy,

I dont know to much about Woodford Town, but I do know the ground is still there. The lights are still in place and the main entrance still has Woodford Town FC written in Green on a white background (I guess there colours were green & white but I cant confrim that - Woodford Running Club are also green and white!). The turnstile is still there as well.

I know the club did not play at Snakes Lane East in 1995 (stand was still there for a couple of years but is now gone) - but I dont know the year they left Snakes Lane East? They went to play at Clapton FC (Spotted Dog Ground) where I believe they stayed until being voted out of the ESL in 2003.

Shame to see a once great name of non league football disapear! I can just about remember them playing Leyton Orient (then just named Orient) in FA Cup 1st Round! 86/87 season. (score 0-1). Woodford Town erected temporary stands at the car park end of the ground.
