Season expectations?

Given the arguments over last nights performance in the other thread I would like to know what peoples expectations were at the beginning of the season prior to the Burnham game.

 

Personally I believed and still believe that a midtable finish would/will be a success in light of the last 2 seasons performances and relegations and used to push on next season.

 

With the optimism off the pitch over the summer it seems as if plenty of people thought that winning the league would be possible. That is surely a lot to ask?

My expectation is for the players to pull their fingers out and play like a team and not bitch like a bunch of 13 year old girls!

 

Should consider playing the full juniors side in a league game to show the "first" team how it is done.

I can't really believe anybody would think that we had a chance of winning the league.

 

The only reason I can think of for this mis-guided optimism is:

 

1) The signing of Danny Jordan & Matthew Platt

 

2) The fact that Derek Sweetman spent most of the pre-season 'hand-picking' players to compete in this division.

 

With virtually a new team mid table would be a reasonable achievement.

I was hoping for a mid table finish, but where exactly in mid table I wasn't sure. I just didn't want us sucked into the relegation battle again!

I was thinking a finish somewhere between 11th and 15th with maybe a brief flirtation with playoffs depending on how tight the division was. But I was not expecting to lose any game by a five goal deficit.

I said 14th, ill stick with that but i have a nasty feeling that im being very optimistic.

Wasn't convinced about promotion contention and having attended a couple of friendlies I definitely haven't revised that. To be honest I thought Pierson would strengthen us up, but we know what happened there and with no apparent contingency we look woeful through the middle of defence.

 

I'm sure the manager knows this.

 

Mid table is all I can hope for.
