A good performance after coming on for the second half last night and surely made a good claim for a starting place saturday.

Its pleasing to see plenty of competition for places at the back and with Sappleton still to come it can only be good for the club.

I agree also.Dan has come on leaps & bounds in pre-season & his appearance last night showed me he is improving still. In one particular raid down their right wing Dan showed some remarkable pace, pace that he has obviously built up over the close season.

I am a strong admirer of his but my comments are not based on that they are based on what I see,& how he can be ignored in a starting line-up is bewildering to me.In fact its a sin.

He not only has that pace these days,he defends like an experienced player at this level that he is nowadays. Last night he was exceptional when coming on in all that he did & the rest of the team team reaped the benefits of his maturity & good form.

Stubbs.Another favourite of mine but I have to say I didn't think he was in tip top form last night.Too many silly gung-ho tackles for me.Mind you that applied to some others too but if he & they can cut out those careless & needless challenges, again the team will benefit even more.

Agree again Ron, in fact I put him down as my MOM for his excellent workrate. Wilson too played well especially in 2nd half. If Young had played full game am sure he would have been my MOM though.

I think the obvious elbow he had in his mouth Tony, may have contributed to some of those tackles after, couldn't believe the linesman and ref missed it, was so obvious right in front of where I was standing.

Then he must learn to hold back then & concentrate on getting the ball rather than the man.Two wrongs don't make a right.

Don't get me wrong I thought he did okay but i.m.o. I have seen him play better.

I agree about Wilson though,he shone for me last night even without his goal.

I did toy with the idea of Wilson too, lad has a great strike on him though he did balloon one way over the bar when I thought he was going to score. I like his attitude too, just gets on with it from what I can see. Things, IMO once they get a few games under their belts, can only get better. Dover on Bank Holiday will be the real big test as to how far they have come, though a moral boosting victory on Saturday against Canvey would be help a great deal.

Got a good feeling about the Canvey game now, just need the team from the second half last night to get going from the start.

A decent win at home will set the lads up with the right positive attitude going into mondays game.

Really looking forward to the Dover game, got some good memories of our time down there.
