tonights game

[Uncle Urchin]

was not the best performance from an urchin team by a long stretch especially in the second half after holding our own in the first....a frankie curley missed open goal from 6 yards at 0-0 early in the game just about summed the night up but fair play to carshalton who have signed some very good players and took full advantage of our lethargy in the second period and to be honest outplayed us....

 

richard jolly was excellent for carshalton as was tommo for us...same start as last season 3 from 6 and onwards to the dover game at home on saturday...

 

not a good result but another good nights football and company at the bridge...

I thought they looked a solid unit.

Fought very hard to get the ball back.

And some excellent tackling at the back.

Our performance was very lack lustre up against some strong pressing from Carshalton. I thought the referee could have been a little firmer in dealing with a string of ankle taps.

Never mind, it's early days and we have two games coming up to blow the cobwebs away and get some points as we get into our stride.

Hodges 9? he kept drifting to the centre and leaving tommo on his own on the left, where there goals cames from.

to be fair to hodges i think he felt he had to drift sometimes to get the ball

when hodges had the ball two carshalton hackers got at him (fair play) and they were more up for it than we were in the second half and thats being honest....

 

we are a good team and will move onwards...

Carshalton did play some good passing football and deserved their win.

 

Hodges was by far our most creative player and I think we need to give him the option of a free role. Unfortunately this left tommo exposed on more than one occasion when he was either drawn into mistimed challenges too high up the field or backed right off and let them run at us. Perhaps the balance of the midfield needs changing to protect the backs if Hodges is allowed to roam.

 

Still think we need another proven striker ....
