Live Score Updates tonight

Sorry about the updates, were not great due to a pretty poor reception and my phone playing-up.

Would not necessarily blame the defence tonight. I thought our midfield was woeful. They picked up every second ball and ran past us with ease. The supply from midfield to both Platt and DJ was awful as well.

They were good in attack, with former Rebel Chris Allen out to proove something against his former club. Did more in this game than he ever did in a Slough shirt!

A very poor night, which I hope means Sweets brings in 3-4 players very quickly to bolster the squad and add competition for places.

Absolutely woeful. That was embarassing to watch.

I went into this season expecting midtable and expect to lose as many games as we win but I was hoping that the thrashings were a thing of the past. But we were caned.

Game was all over after 15 minutes when they went two up and they controlled the game from then on.

Would agree with Chris that the midfield did not work at all today. Just did not gel and made it far too easy for an organised North Leigh. But defensively we were shambolic.

Felt sorry for Platt and Jordan as they had no service at all.

Sweets will need to work hard to get them positive and up for the next game.

Thoroughly depressed.

This is my own personal opinion, but I also think a couple of players were 'carrying' in the team as they have shown nothing over pre-season to make me think otherwise.

What players can Sweetman get now? All the decent/half decent players are signed up and we can't exactly tempt them with the offer of more money.

The phrase used by Sweetman that 'these players have been hand-picked' at the moment doesn't say a lot for his judgement of a player.

While it is early days yet, from what I've seen, at least half the squad is not up to this level. Tonight was easily as bad as anything we produced last season. North Leigh had some skill, a lot of organisation and a desire to play. We were a complete shambles, players arguing with each other, no desire to win the loose ball, and unable to string 2 passes together.

back to the slough of old , no marking , no passing, no idea there was no passion, sweets needs to discipline every single player not one of them earnt their money tonight there were to many prima donnas and no team players, the only thing they did well tonight was argue amongst themselves about who wasn't doing what and when to which i put the team captain at fault as it is his responsibility to quell this on the pitch and get his team to concentrate on the task in hand and sweets should enforce that attitude at half time , just shows a lack of discipline all round.

We were truly awful tonight, and that is an understatement.

Our game plan (could you call it one?) for the first half seemed to be to get the ball to Danny Jordan and hope he can beat six defenders. Whilst there was a slight improvement in the second half, I fear that was mainly down to us playing downhill rather than uphill, and North Leigh realising that we had no defence and could attack seemingly at will.

At times the ease at which their forwards just waltzed through our defence was quite frankly embarrassing. And do any of our so-called defenders know how to successfully pass the ball to a team-mate? Jamie Jackson could do little with what he had in front of him, and the full-time scoreline of 6-1 could so easily have been the half-time scoreline.

Also rather worrying at times was the obvious disunity in the side, as there were at least two examples of the Slough players all arguing with and criticising each other.

Roy Gumbs came on as a late substitute and showed much more passion and effort as Lee Riddell and many others did during their time on the pitch.

There was a time, long ago, where if we had been thrashed 6-1, I would have been gutted. Now, I've just got used to it.

Well based on tonights performance I'd like to see a new centre back, centre mid and right mid/winger minimum.

Given everyone on here has seen the need for a right winger since the beginning of pre-season I wont hold my breath. Dave Barratt was at the game Saturday - he will do!

I was concerned about the depth of the squad and the bench of the last two games confirms that fear. Also some heart and direction from the touch line other than Calvin Maye would be nice to see.

Somebody will tell me we played worse last season when I didn't see many games (in fact Kay said as much) but that was the single most pathetic performance I can recall from a Slough team. They came out looking like they had the attitude of being too good to play at North Leigh. I'm sure players will read this and think that's not true but that's how it looked to me. Every goal bar one was thoroughly avoidable and, in fact, we probably contributed to most of them. The first was because we weren't up for it as soon as the whistle blew and the second because we pissed around with the ball.

I like Dean Harper as a player but at Witney I said he doesn't stop crosses coming in. Thirty seconds gone tonight and a player skins him with ease and crosses for the first goal. Not only his fault as you don't leave players unmarked in the middle but if you stop the cross getting there....

It was lucky the referee was lenient as Fenton should have been red carded for the challenge that conceded the penalty and after that it was just pathetic. Playing passes without looking up, hoofing the ball forward when nobody was there, allowing the Leigh players to just pass and move, that's all they did. Nothing more.

Not sure to me that Jordan deserves the praise he got tonight - he looked to be trying to do too much on his own. Daly and Gumbs were, for me, the only outfield players who could hold their heads up. People will blame Daly for some of the goals but who apart from him was bollocking the team and trying to get them going? Where the **** was the captain doing that role? Oh yeah, fannying around with the ball in the middle to give the second goal away.

I think Slough have some good players this year (including those I have criticised) but being good is nothing if the attitude and effort isn't right. 'Reardon was God' longs for the days of the conference and Terry Reardon. I'd settle for some of the performances under Steve Browne after tonight.

The players need to take a very hard and long look at themselves after tonight and if they think the criticism on here is all rubbish they need to prove as much.

PS. Magnificent goal from Leigh - was it the 4th or 5th? - superb volleyed diagonal crossfield ball and then a fantastic chip over Jackson into the far side of the net (Ryan Spencer at Kingstonian anyone?) Brilliant goal.

Doesn't make for good reading. Been on a bus trip since most of the day and have spent most of it looking forward to finding out the result. It seems I'm not missing a great deal while I'm away

Having watched most of the first half from behind Jacko, the defence was awful. The only communication between them was when then argued and criticised each other. Their left winger was all over Harper, Daly was calling for balls he could never win and had Jacko telling him this. As everyone has said there was no midfield. At defensive set pieces Daly never seemed to be marking anyone and was often in between 2 players. The arguing amongst the team was awful. One of their fans chatted to me and he was amazed by this so early in the game and season.

Agree with earlier poster, it looked as if we thought we were too good to be there. It may have been a basic quaint rural pitch, but they are in this league due to hard work and commitment, two things we lacked totally. Saturday was promising, how can the same group perform so different days later? If we want to grace decent grounds again we have to earn it, it is not a right. The way we "performed" last night, we will be on worse grounds next year, or pray for reprieve again. Daly's goal was awesome, no one should knock his effort or commitment, may be the legs have gone, but we have no one better, I would rather have him at the moment due to his passion. Gumbs was the only other to show real passion, chasing down lost causes at 6-0 down with minutes to go. Should have come on a lot earlier. When you hear the result you blame the keeper, not last night apart from one of the oals, the poor guy had no help whatsoever. Cinderford, who won at Didcot remember, will not be easy, and I for one am not looking forward to it.
