GHA EFM
I reckon CM2 was my first, closely followed by the old skool CM2 Italy, France, Germany version. Quality! Set me up for life!
MK James
The original on the Commodore Amiga. Once you'd worked out the killer formation(4-3-1-2) and got the right players to fit it, you were unstoppable. You could take any 3rd. division club into the European Cup.* *For all you youngsters like GHA, this was the forerunner of the Champions League

YELLOW
My first CM was CM1 1993/4 edition. Absolute quality game. Greatest achievement on that was winning the Double with West Ham as well as getting to the UEFA Cup final that year. My favourite CM was CM2 1997/8. I won the league three times in a row and had a team that consisted of Weah, Bergkamp, Zola, Vieira, Denilson, Overmars, Rio Ferdinand, Gareth Southgate, Hristo Stoichkov, that was one quality team! GHA EFM
I still remember that cheat whereby you offered £20million for a player (that's the highest it went! Shows how far we've come!), it was accepted, you cancelled, then offered nothing and it worked. Quality once again.
CanveyFan
CM2 96-97, I was 9 at the time and got totally hooked, Not a lot has changed then. I've got a PS2 with games you can actually play but I alwways get drawn back to CM
Matt H
My first was the same as CanveyFan's it was lent to me by a mate who had just bought the newer version. I always played as Chelsea, (Canvey Island wasn't even heard of by Eidos back then!) Basically I did absolute [****!!****]!! No matter what tactics, what line-up I always got relegated in my first season. It was a big battle back to the Premiership which I never quite achieved... so I left it. Came back and bought the 00/01, 01/02 and now CM4 - I'm gradually getting the hang of it! Matt CIFC

CanveyFan
I used to win trophies in 96/97 more through luck than judgement, but I used to play with big teams, now I take Conference teams on and try to win the title, Far more of a challenge
Halifax Lass
Son and girfriend on visit to France so thought I'd see what kept him shut away in the bedroom for hours on end (apart from girlfriend). It was after 3 am this morning before I went to bed and I still don't understand it. George Borg 2 Junior
Championship Manager 2 - the first release of CM2 on the Amiga in the red box with the dodgy looking bloke in a shellsuit on the cover... He had big eyes!! Anyway - had possibly the greatest player I've ever had in CM on this version... (other than Paul Furlong after I'd used the editor later on(!)) - A Uruguyan game generated player, called Enzo Paz... F RLC. He scored loads and loads of goals and led AFC Bournemouth to be European Champions... I presume he was system generated 'cause I searched for him for years after to no avail... I miss old Enzo...
