New Twitter SMS Services

Several new sites are springing up, which will allow you once again to receive the BTFC Twitters by SMS text message - although not for free this time.

 

I've used none of these, and can't vouch for any of them, but feel free to try them and report back. They are not related to Twitter in any way either.

 

The first to launch is http://www.twitsms.co.uk who are charging 7p a message.

 

Although not free, it's still a good deal when you consider that many football clubs charge 25p a text. Unfortunately, BTFC does not get a share of the 7p.

 

I'll post the other new services in this thread as they come online.

I should point out that you will need a web-based Twitter account to do this. If you originally signed up via a 'FOLLOW BTFC' text, you likely don't have one.

 

So:

1. Sign up for a free account at http://twitter.com

2. Search for BTFC on the Twitter site and choose FOLLOW

3. Go to http://twitsms.co.uk , and sign up with your Twitter details and pay for some texts.

 

You should be able to FOLLOW/REMOVE BTFC at leisure, so you can turn it off and save your text allowance if you're going to be at the game.

Twe2 is pretty slow at the moment. Since they're brand new I'd give 'em a week or two to sort their act out before writing them off completely.

 

If they don't improve, anyone who wants to get texts may have to resort to one of the pay services, which are approx. 5p per text. Although, a lot of these still seem to have a 10 min delay. Will keep investigating.
