What the hell was all this about? I was waiting for the champions league music to come over the tannoy! I'm led to believe all teams in the league have to do this before the game this season as it's part of the 'respect the referee' campaign? Be interesting to know if other teams in our league did it?

In the words of Jim Royale, 'Respect my [****!!****]!'

How can the refs expect respect when they can't even get the basics correct.

Yesterday at Gosport a Gosprt player ends up with cut head, after the ref ref caught him with his watch. He sends him over to the side of the pitch to get treated where he is treated on the pitch and after a quick squirt of water comes straight back on without being checked. The assistant ref was trying to call him back but then gave up and to top it all had a big blood stain on his shirt.

That along with blatant goal kicks and corners going the other way, this was for boh sides before anyone thinks it was all Gosports.

A Windsor player kicks the ball away and gets booked and five Gosport players do it and get a friednly word in the ear.

Now I am all for respecting officials. I am one myself and understand that without them there would be no games, but this has to be a two way thing as I have known players that hve given up playing due to the attitude and blatant wrong decisions from officials.

I agree totaly with you Mal (not often that happens) as Respect is something that has to be earnt and cannot just be expected.

We all get things wrong, but when some one like a ref constantly makes basic errors how can they be respected?

But the problem may well be the quality of officals at this level, as if they were anygood they would be officiating at a higher level - low level football = low level refs?

Some games I have watched I have been left wondering who wanted to be the stars of the show - the players or the ref with an ego?

This is not an issue that can be solved overnight by lining people up and shaking hands!!

I think on the whole fans are often biased in refs decisions because they feel strongly for their team, neutrals on the whole have a more balnced view.

tbh i think respect for the ref should be there regardless of how we feel he has performed, it is also very easy to criticize refs, it would be interesting to see how would be refs from the terrace would perform if they had to take control of a game.

I think the southern league could take a leaf out of the amateur leagues which play hard but fair and the refs decision is final.

It also becomes monotenous to hear constant moaning at refs, ok sometimes they get it wrong, surely its best to get on with playing the game rather than complain.

Ref V burnham had a decent game a few decision could have gone either way like the penalty appeal was it was`nt it? people had mixed views around the ground. He had a few words in passing, kept the game flowing 95% correct decisions they wont get much better in this league
