verities and balderdash...

so off we went to the garden of england on a warm late summers day.. most thankful for the ramsgate away game being drawn so early in the season after last terms three rain driven tuesday nighters....

easy trip down there and the southwood stadium all spick and span with two new behind the goal terraces and a pitch nurtured and mown to perfection over the summer....always most welcoming down there and an early chat with jimbo gave me the impression that his team was right up for it all and fancied another play off place this season and I believed him.. so it was with much confidence that I watched as we took the game to the hosts for 15 minutes which culminated in a perfectly good kris lee goal being disallowed by a useless lino who was 10 yards behind the line (nowt changes does it) and if this new FA respect campaign is going to take off I'll platt sh1te or vote for PTT...grin

minutes later we were a goal down much against the run of play only for parks to equalise and greenie to put us in front at half time with at least 5 chances missed by the urchin marauders....yes it was that one sided...

ramsgate came at us for 15 after the break but then normal business resumed as we continued to run at the home team and continued to either miss good chances or be thwarted by increasingly incompetetnt officials...another parks goal disallowed and a blatant kick on curley that could only have been a red had the ref seen it (which he did) but resulted in a yellow as the ref bottled it right in front of a foaming at the mouth jimbo.... who didn't see it of course...grin

and then the stage managed homer penalty which was probably the most ludicrous decision amongst many but dale safe hands englands number one all clad in pink and black chosen by nette brightly... launched himself into space to save and purdie cleared the second attempt off the line...a desperate attempt by homer to save the ramsgate day by adding on 10 minutes and playing until 5pm was thwarted by some sterling urchin play and the deed was done...3 points and a good start...

so off we went with a smile and a handshake and a warm glow inside now the season is back with us and a glide home on suprisingly empty roads....good strong solid urchin performance and onwards to the bridge on tuesday for carshalton with much confidence...

excellent away contingent of about 150 in a surprisingly disappointing crowd of around 350..

well done all...applause
