Carshalton v Margate updates

The team put all they had into the first half and the goal was a good header, unfortunately a second half collapse by most players gave the game away. The team had no leader, and both Carshalton goals were gifted to them by the so called captain for the day, who thought foul play was a good option after losing many tackles and marking open spaces. This overall was a poor effort to win a game that was there for the taking.

this team will get things wrong ,all young players do,to single out one individual at this stage of the season i believe to be well out of order.

because he was captain for the game should not go against him, pretty sure there will be a few more captains before the season ends and a few more mistakes.

this is allmost a personal attack on this one player,if you have a problem with tom you realy should tell him to his face.

Spot on. Tom's a good mate of mine and is a good footballer aswell as passionate about his club. You will not get any less than 100% from him but hey sometimes people have bad games. There's 11 fella's out on that pitch and to single out 1 is out of order. 11 players win games. 1 does not.

This is a section from the carlshalton site .

i think it is particularly interesting that they talk of being exposed on the flanks.

An element of truth in that-although a bit exagerated maybe.

However, it highlights for me that you do not need 'wide men'-coleman/Quain to be able to attack down the wings.

I always maintain that you are better off with 4 proper battling midfield players to win the ball and then as we saw from Morris, Peters, even Power,Parkinson, use these guys on occasions to attack down the flanks as opposed to having players permanently out wide and not that involved in much of the game.

I thimk BA got his set up spot on and hope he continues that with that sort of formation-win and maintain the ball in midfield is the key for me.

'CAFC have the more skilled and experienced individual players, but the advantage was levelled by a playing system that unnecessarily exposed both flanks and regularly left Carshalton outnumbered in wide positions in both the first and final thirds of the field. As a result, CAFC defending from wide positions, corners and crosses was abysmal. Distribution from deep positions had great intentions, but having played it short every time for the first 20 minutes it became predictable, then simply suicidal. Individually there was very little to criticise the CAFC players about, they ... '
