The Clubs final pre-season training session took place at Hartsdown Park yesterday evening. The session saw the return from injury of Pat Sappleton, who has now registered with the Club, contract agreements with Roberto Corbishley and Sam Taylor were also put in place.

The new look Margate squad has an average age of just 21. The Management Team will continue to source further young athletes who have potential to play at a higher level. Barry & Paul take their squad to Carshalton for the opening game of the new Season tomorrow, with their first home match at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday 19 August, when our guests will be Hendon.

The spirit inside the Club is electric and much is expected once the new look side has settled down and bonded together. The supporters can play a massive role in assisting the players to achieve the Clubs objective by getting behind them and supporting them no matter what they face as they start the Season.

The Club would also like to take this opportunity to pay special thanks for the extensive hard work put in by the staff, in particular Vicki Bush and Phil Fennel, over the close Season.

On behalf of all true Margate Supporters, the Club wishes Barry, Paul and the Squad all the very best of luck as a new chapter in the life of our Club gets underway.

Up the Gate!

Thanks for the 'final update.

As Sapps has registered as opposed to sigining contract, i interpret that as 'non contract 'so essentially he can play for us but is also in the shop window if any bigger club comes along (wonder if i am right )

Welcome to Sam Taylor-does anyone know his 'pedigree' .

I guess Sam has got the nod over Dan Young-pity-being greedy one would like both as do wonder how long Sapps will be on the scene for and is he fit.

Wonderful to have Sapps experience though;even if it lasts for just 3 months whilst the others gain more experience.

Is Sapps fit for tomorrow one wonders ?

Best wishes to Dan Young

I am assuming contract terms couldn't be agreed with Dan as Barry was certainly chatting some while with him after game. Good luck to him if he has gone elsewhere then. Great to have Roberto back who, I believe, will become one of our star players with his attacking play added. As for Sam Taylor did,'t I read was with Fisher and was injured most of last season so was released? Looked good on Sunday against Cray.

Fantastic news about Pat being registered with the Club, and Roberto & Sam signing on with the Gate.

Average age of 21 is a little scary, but i guess they will be wanting to show what they can do for the Club and the Fans.

I'm Amazed at how much more excited i am about the prospect of a unknown outcome to this season, then the last two in which we where expected to finish as contenders.

I feel exactly the same after the drudgery of the Trott regime .Its obviously easy at the moment as we have not lost a meaningful game yet this season;and how will i feel if we are consistently losing?
Having said that, expectations are lower, and when going to games -frankly expecting to win everyone because you knew that the players were good enough, but just not harnessed correctly, and then losing-that was painful much to often over the last couple of years.

This year-i am hoping be like our first years in the conference national where you did not expect to win too many games; and so when the wins came around the high's were so much better and the low's not so low. Like tomorrow-one is not really expecting much of a result so anything achieved would be fantastic-even a promising performance would be applauded.
As you say G4TW you knew the outcome of what you would see last season-it would be rubbish defending -farcical at times- and then just a question of if we could score a few-after a while-it just became boring, and i am convinced that the predictability of it all last season was the major factor in the crowds falling away.
I just have a feeling that whilst we may not do too brilliant performance wise, we will be able to keep smiling this season.
