there was a full back saturday giving the lino stick over everything

that was crap, how did you qualify for this job etc etc

he misses two headers, shanks two passes of into touch within five minutes.

lino doesnt give an offside and the full back is off again.

the full back was just allowed to keep on with it, no word from the captain or coach.

respect?

Wasn't there a World Cup game when that happened (think in the 70's)?!?!

The Welsh ref blew up as the corner game in and the attacking team (Brasil?) scored from it, but ref said that the time was up and the goal didn't count!!

what constitutes completion of the penalty kick?

goal or goal kick obviously, but what about if the keeper saves it?

if he catches it times up, but if he pushes it onto the post and it rebounds and hits him on the back of the head and is rolling across the line very slowly on a downhill slope with the wind behind do you allow nature to take its course?

I need to know for a novel im writing where Dorking play Chertsey in the fa cup final and this very event occurs.

my understanding is that the ball should be in a neutral zone before the final whistle is blown, but which ever way, it will cause problems. As corner taken, blow up - team might have won or equalised, wait til neutral zone - goal might get scored and team loses or draws. Tricky one.

In terms of the penalty, as soon as the result of the kick is know, whistle goes. If the keeper saves it and rebounds into play - hard luck the referee does not wait to see what happens to the rebound. To make his job easier, the referee should say to the players that as soon as the result of the kick is known, he will blow for time. The referees are encouraged to say this.

Thing is, it wasn't as if he blew as the corner taker kicked the ball - he more or less waited for it to hit Gayle's head! I clearly remember his whistle blowing as the ball was hitting the net. Fortunately, the replay was won 3-1 from memory...
