My expectations for saturday

You go to every game hoping you can win,but realistically, i am not expecting too much from saturday.

You could say that having lost at carlshalton 3-0 last season, anything better is an improvement !!

In a way, unlike the last 2 seasons where you realistically go to every game knowing that the side is capable of winning and then being let down; its quite refreshing and less stressful to be approaching the game not expecting to do that well.

So what do i want to see:

Simply a team who look like they have the physique and attitude to play at Ryman level (a couple of the friendlies i saw gave the impression it was all a bit of fun on a nice sunny day )

I'm looking to see an attitude that says we are here to compete in this league and understand its serious stuff.

I'm also expecting to see a manger and coach who also realise that the rymjan is a tough old league to play and manage in.

Regardless of result-if i see evidence of that attitude ;it will suffice to start with; and that as players or management; Margate do not look amateurish and ignoring ages, 'boys against men';and completely out of our depth.

No expectations from me this season or for our opening game but I am full of hope that these guys can up their game against superior opposition to that which they have played against so far.

Whatever the result on Saturday, win, lose or draw we have to stand together this season & all get behind the players & manager.

No heads down from the players or from their supporters.

If they keep trying, as you mention above Michael I'm sure they will get their rewards in the end.

In turn we have to turn up at matches whenever possible to support them.

One heavy defeat(if one does comes about)must NOT deter people from going again next time as often happens.

Do i detect an undercurrent of people being behind the team and BA more than we were under Trott;or is it just the 'honeymoon period' for BA.

Somehow, i think his 'support' will be longer lasting ;and it is important for him to create a bond and communicate honestly with the supporters. If he does that i reckon most will stay behind him through the adversities to come.

I like his management style myself though I still liked Trotty and was sorry to see him go. But things move on and I will always support however is in charge or plays for us.

Will certainly be a tough start, although I don't think Carshalton will be as strong this season as many are suggesting; money does not guarantee success.

Think we will probably be edged out by the odd goal, probably 2-1. But, I am confident we will not roll over and we will hold our own.

Up the 'Gate. Keep the faith!

More goalkeepers wearing scruffy kits, plus fours and looking as though they ought to be in ice hockey teams!
