Rushden Commentary

Recommended Posts

We simply folded in the second half. It was all long ball and no end product. Can't recall Marriott having to make a save for them in the whole match.

Shakes showed that he is more than willing and capable to track back. Sacha was his committed self and Moore had a good match, always looking lively.

Purcell came on early second half and had a chance with his first kick that he flashed wide. It came too early for him as he literally had just come on. Akinde came on for the last fifteen or so and looked pretty disinterested to be honest. Kweshi got ten minutes and looked pacey but the match was lost by then.

Nice sausage rolls.

A good first half, we played really well but couldn't get the goal. Luke Moore, Sacha Opinel and Ricky Shakes had good games. Like Jeff says, we folded second half, just like the Mansfield game. Substitutions should've been made earlier in the secnd half, and I think Kweshi should've came on for Gash.

It was similar to the Mansfield game, so frustrating as well. We could've scored twice in the second half: Gash skyed it in front of goal, and an open goal was blocked by the excellent Rushden defence. Think we also hit the post early on in the first half.

After the first two games, I'm going to satisfied with a point away at Plainmoor on Monday night. To win it would put us back on track.

We must also bear in mind that in the 2007-08 season, West Bromwich Albion lost their first three matches of last season, but then went on to win the title.... Well, you never know grin

Why does daish keep selecting purcell in the squad when other players should be higher up in the pecking order ie. Pooley ( when international clearance goes through) kezie and macca come ahead of him. Thats my opinion purely because his crossing isn't up to scratch and he tries to go through 4 or 5 players to deliver the ball.

Huh? So you want Liam to pick Pooley (unavailable) or McCarthy ( a defender) above a fast, quick left sided attacking midfielder? Not seen enough of Ibe to know if he is able to play that role.

Purcell is crossing the ball way more often than he did last season - where he would always cut inside the defender, then back out before taking a shot.
