Margate 3 Cray Wanderers 1

A slow start but worked our way into the game without having to work to hard . Some of the passing in 2nd half was very good using all the pitch , funniest thing though was Dean Standen kicking off with Louis , and most of the players getting involved as well , No one was hurt though so roll on next week . Up the Gate .

Looked shocking first half but then I realised that was down to the wind blowing straight down the pitch. Much better with the wind at the backs.

Did not actually see the incident which lead to the melee but was not surprised to look up and see Standen in the middle of it all. He got carded with Parkinson.

Dean Standen is incredible. When will he learn. He should be playing higher league football than Cray Wanderers, but who wants someone who misses one third of the season through suspension. Bloody fool

Should've been more then 3-1 today, especially with that One on one Hickman some how missed, first half we didn't look great but I think that was down to the wind, Second half we were all over them. Bring on Carshalton.

Who is John -Paul Collier ?

is he the same guy who a few were calling James Peak or James Peat or JP

Any ideas where he is from?

Similarly-Good to see Sam Taylor there again-how did he play?

Any ideas where he has come from.

well done margate

I think Roberto showed today that although he is a right back he can do more than an adequate job at left back. However, I hate playing players out of position but he seems the best option in the left back position today. He was also unlucky not to score an individual goal today. The understanding and respect he has fom Ryan was also evident today.

Give him a Contract.

and corbishley is ok in midfield aswell.

From what i have seen for myself and read , give all of those players there today- and not signed to date- a contract (plus kenny pratt).

i reckon that set of players would do ok for us.

Possibly a couple of weeks too early-but you never know.

Funny how that month or so 'lost' at the start of the close season whilst BA's appmnt was held up-may come back and bite us.

I just feel that final squad needs a couple more weeks of settling down and playing together-as we have said before-ideally against just one side from a higher league to really test us.

I fear the rude awakening may be next saturday, but depending on who else is signed, i think we will just about be good enough to avoid relegation-which is no mean effort all things considered.

Substitute Corbishley for Parkinson and is it wishful thinking (notwithstanding that 4 have yet to be signed ) to believe that first half starting line up is not a million miles from the team that will take the field against carlshalton ?
I'd take that first half line up .

I thought Louis Smith was nigh on faultless when he came on in the second half.Got caught for speed just the once from what I can remember but apart from that "faultless".I have been very much impressed with him now that he is one of the "old hands". He's doing good back there.

Young too has impressed me & been ultra consistent in the friendlies.Taylor looks better each time I see him.I think our final three at the back are they in any permutation.

JP-Collier didn't do much today but from what I saw of him at Chatham there is plenty enough trickery in his play to cause a problem or two to defenders.

We could do with Paul Smith back in the side to steady the younger & less experienced players. When will he be fit enough to play I wonder. He DID come here to play didn't he?

My preferred first team full backs are - Corbishley (RB) Gregory (LB) with Parkinson as cover for either.

Oooops-forgot about louis.

Yes-seems he and Young are the best and most experienced central pairing -but need a third centreback for injuries'suspension/loss of form and Taylor seems more thasn ok.

It also slightly worries me that whilst they do ok when paired with others, i have never seen Louis and Young play particularly well together.

maybe BA can coach them into a proper unit however and working together without too big a gap between them-thats where last season we let goals in-leaving too big a gap between the central defenders and the opposition just walk it through, play the through ball,or lob it over them
