Bagshot Lea v Chertsey Town

ONSIDE

Recommended Posts

It's no great secret that we tried to buy another site in Chertsey earlier this year to build a new five hundred seat stadium but were told we would not get planning permission. Minor cosmetics have been done to the ground with the exception of the pitch which has had large investment.A new large home dressing room is also close to being agreed. We believe that as the town has heard very little from the club in the last decade that is positive that we need a winning team to get the whole club moving and people interested again and more investment as at the moment the community does very little to financialy help support the club in the form of sponsors etc. The 22 youth teams have also had a major revamp as that is really the best way forward too-we all know how tough non-league football is

The trouble with the Combined Counties prem is the fans dont turn up, Chertsey will only be a plaything of a rich man until he wants his money back, then who knows? the fans still won't be there and they will come back down with a bump. lets hope they enjoy it while its here. A bit like Beer & Hangover. Those Cove players were very good last season I saw them beat Guildford 4-1 and Guildford were a tasty team last season.

it seems the initial investment in wages is going hand in hand with infrastructure on the youth and ground fronts, and if the club progresses the support grows commercially and through the gate. add to that a manager who looks like he's willing to top up any shortfall and youve got a club with a good chance of progression.

they will find their level eventually, and it looks like it will be above coco prem.

Spencer / Chertsey will never admit how much they are shelling out!! Lets be honest Coops himself will be on a decent wage - and fair enough he is the one who is getting all the players down to the club, the other coach / cone collector he must be on a bit. and the players who have dropped leagues will be on a very good wage. Im sure that the money is all worth it, lets be honest to beat Badshot 6 -0 and not even playing well says alot. I just hope the league hasnt been won soon and the rest of the league is a dead beat. I have 2 of my best mates at Chertsey, and one extremely close friend and i think they will win the league and they should, if anyone saw them against Knaphill you would know why. By all accounts the banter is good, the football is good and the team looks settled.
