I think thats a little unfair Steve. I agree that our match reports have in the past been a little economical with how badly we have played some times, but they generally reflect the truth. You have to remember that match reports at this level are not written by neutrals or journalists who have no ties with either club, but by members, supporters and/or officials of the club and I think every club is guilty of protecting their name when it comes to writing the match reports.

Again Rhodes, here in lies the problem. As yet, i havent written a report for a hoddy game this season due to other commitments. However, normally what happens for our match reports is the following:-

I watch the entire 90 minutes and record all the key facts. Line ups, chances, goals, substitutions, etc etc. At the end of the game, I write a very brief summary of the overall game itself. I then hand this document to the wife of our Webmaster. Our Webmaster who types up the reports, quite often has not seen the game as he is, amongst other competitons, a SSMFL official himself and 9 times out of 10, has a game himself. On Saturday evening (or Wednesday morning) he and our chairman will have a telephone conversation, where he is filled in on the more finer points of the game (possesion, contraversial decisions, individual players etc etc).

To cut a long story short, the match reports on our website are very often written by a man who has not seen the game, and has been informed of events by the chairman (show me a chairman that aint biased) and my good self (i like to think Im a little more realistic and give credit where it is due, whether that be my team or our opponents!!

Hope that clears a few things up

I love how Roger is known the world over as "the little guy with the tache and the cigar". A more perfect description cannot exist!! And yes, in the absence of myself, Roger will give the details to our webmaster.

Make no mistake though, I know for a fact that if we are sh{t, the chairman pulls no punches!!

FoRM were at this one. Entertaining match between two well matched sides. Chalfont probably edged the first half just as they looked more threatening but Hanwell had more possession. Each side scored with a header from a centre half beating the keeper to a cross.

Lot of good play between the penalty areas by both sides but both defences worked hard and played well to keep scoring chances at a premium. After hitting the post with a free kick from the halfway line, CHalfont won it injury time with a scrambled goal following a corner, though Hanwell missed a good chance a few minutes before. A draw would probably been about right

LATO - What would you say has happened to Hanwell Town this season, the wheels seem to have fallen off although they did have a decent win at Buckingham Town in the FA Cup.

Of the 18 sell out crowd at the recent Benfica v New Bradwell game, 11 were Bradwell supporters (100 odd mile round trip to such a scenic place), 4 were pidgeons nesting in the stand and the other 3 had been waiting outside for over an hour for the W3 bus and thought they'd show their faces.

Manor went down 3-1 at Hadley last night despite taking a first half lead through a Melford Simpson initiated own goal and looking quite comfortable at that point. Hadley equalised following their first real attack on goal and then took the lead just... before the interval following a defensive lapse. The second period was a cat and mouse affair played in persistant rain, Manor were unable to make a breakthrough despite having the lions share of play and conceded again close to the final whistle.

Found this on the world wide web!

Sorry Jonno but I stand by my opinion that they are the most biased reports Ive read. Often blaming external factors for defeat ( in the case with my team in one game last season it was the Ref, the slope, the missing players and the Linesman. ) We, on that day were simply the better team for more of the game. And scored more goals which helps. I don't think they give enough credit to the opposition and just seem a litany of excuses at times. Only my opinion though.

I see somebody has access to Tokyngton Manor's Facebook page.
The Club's disappointing start to the campaign is merely a blip and it was never set in stone that we would hit the ground running. The idea is to stay on the shoulder of the leading pack, Steve Ovett style, until October when Lee Scott joins us and then make up the lost ground, kicking clear during March and April. It's a marathon not a sprint.
