Due to work commitments I only caught the second half (handy though, as by all accounts the first half was a drab affair)

 

No idea if Hansell played, didnt see the team sheet and wouldnt recognise him. All I know is that their keeper was woeful and the rest of the team fairly uninspiring. The right result but not one for the neutral.

Why was there suddenly such a big turn out at Preston Park out of interest, I know it was their final home game of the campaign but they are not normally well supported despite their lofty league position.

In my position as the unofficial statistician of Harefield United FC I did a little bit of research tonight.

2006-2007 League Champions Edgware: Average crowd 83
2007-2008 League Champions Beaconsfield: Average crowd 59
2008-2009 League Championship contenders Harefield: Average crowd (not including today) 90
Average crowd (including today's excellent 210) 96

Also, the 2nd best crowds in Edgware's and Beaconsfield's Championship winning seasons where both against the mighty Hares....crowds of 131 and 157.....nice. smile

For a tiny little village on the outskirts of Middlesex, I reckon that ain't too bad.

Maybe they're all 'swarming' to watch the 'strong-arm' tactics of the Hares. grin
