I played against SLeB on Saturday and they are not a good team, although they do have some good individuals, therein lies the problem.

Too many players with "flair" but no discipline, perhaps only their two centre backs kept any shape. Too many players wanting to moan at the officials, opposition and each other and not concentrating on what is needed..playing the game.

I do however have to hand it to their manager (Special1 on this site?) as he seemed a decent bloke and looked like he had very little in the way of support. It should not be for the manager to be climbing over fences at the back of the car park collecting balls during the match. You would expect the home team to show their faces in the bar after a match, even if for a quick one.

All of the above leads me to wonder whether a team without their own ground (although playing on a very good pitch) with that little support to the manager and team really deserves to be playing at that level. My experience from Saturdays visit so maybe this was a bad day.

Bosman08 - Yes and that's the fourth or fifth game in succession that they haven't scored a goal which must be the worst dry spell in the Club's history, here is the match report from Hertford Town's Website:

Agree Coffin Ender anyone who was at the Lane last night definately got their monies worth, brilliant game, not sure what Ewings team talk was at half time, but it worked, the Fosters boys showed great determination and spirit after going 2-0 down so early on.

Great win for Cockfosters, they seem to have the battle for the fight as 4/5 teams are involved now at the bottom of the table.

Hanwell have gone on a great run and have now put themself in a great position to challenge for the title. If B'O Brien can keep knocking in the goals they may get that league title, they should have won it the year Potters Bar won (6 years ago?)

Royston and Hadley both look like champions in the other leagues, good footballing teams with good set ups so will be a welcome addition to the Prem and Div 1.

Agree Bosman with everything you say, one thing is for sure down at the Lane, Ewing has definately brought in team spirit, which has been missing for so long within the 1st team and that determination and spirit won them the game last night ! He has also brought in some new players with character and a fighting spirit! Just hope it continues!

Ampthill v Royston cracking game last night as well. Unbelievable on that show how Ampthill are in bottom half as Ive easily seen worse in the top half!! Royston had to be at their best and on Ampthill's superb playing surface they were. Great game to watch, a deserved outcome in the end as Royston also hit the woodwork 3 times in the 2nd half but well worth paying the entrance money i would day!

I'm rather hoping we will give Hadley a run for their money, especially as if we win our games in hand then we will be above them. Before yesterdays results they were only above us on goals scored as both teams had identical goal difference.

Kentish Town need any point now in the next few games, the schedule and the called off games from Copthall are obviously playing havoc with a small squad after losing a few key figures. They still have a few games in hand so like Cockfosters and Haringey of late have to battle and battle hard.

AWK - I think you will give them a run for their money games in hand are always tricky but im sure if you guys get in the top 2 that will secure Div 1 status. Are the facilities ok for Div 1?

Only 3 points behind but with 2 games in hand so its not as if we have a huge difference to make up like say Chalfont in the Prem, though we have still to travel to Hadley which could prove to be very interesting. I wouldn't have thought we would be able to get promoted if we finish in the top two, but then again Kings Langley did so who knows? Have Kings Langley installed them floodlights yet?

Dave - Strange that you don't mention Craig Hammond scored yet again, made the first goal and hit the woodwork, without him you would have probably struggled to beat Ampthill according to the Royston Crow report:

Thanx for your comments x-man. Interestingly, I have had more physical support than I had last year, however, when last year I had a little or no support anything was a plus this year. Unfortunately, due to extraordinary circumstances (including the economy), I believe we have been at our lowest point these last few months. Do I see light at the end of the tunnel? Football wise, we deserved to win yesterday and if we sort out our defensive leaks we will look to close up on the teams above. This will be dependent on other factors as we look to survive the season financially. Various things in the pipeline to set us up strong in the future, but the time is against us, as the immediate short-term is going to be extremely difficult. No doubt certain people will be happy about that.

Special1 - So why did you show Hector Varela the door last season then when he came knocking, he might have still been with you and you wouldn't be in the predicament you're currently in.
Have you seen the report from your game at Hatfield in the Welwyn & Hatfield Times:
