Mrs Keeps - So you were at the game then, you seem to go there a lot. Is the new stadium everything it's cracked up to be as one or two people on another's Forum have pointed out some flaws although I'm sure it's just nit picking.

The coffee's crap - but that's nothing to do with BTFC

Recommend the burgers - hot dogs are on a par with the coffee - again
nothing to do with BTFC

Management & BTFC Staff warm & welcoming

The guy on the tannoy has a velvety smooth voice

The grass is green & the sun is generally shining

What more can you ask for?

As to nit picking I did read one twit's post where he moaned about the 'new carpet' smell - you can please some people some of the time..............

Unlocking the new toilet blocks might have been a good move too. Again unlocked now - keeping them locked for the first game was a cunning plan - anyone wishing to use the facilities was encouraged to enter the clubhouse thereby ensuring that the bar and 'new carpet smell' was appreciated to the full laugh

Frankly, this was an awful game. Ninety minutes of constant fouling, swearing and abuse of the officials. Twenty-two grown men (reduced to twenty-one by the end) behaving like children scrapping in the playground. I tend to think that when this happens it is because the players are covering up for their own deficiencies, and there was certainly little evidence of any real football talent on the field last night. As one chap said to me at the final whistle

Just to fill in some gaps...
older reporter = R S Cavendish (from the another forum)

younger reporter = Tony Incenzo, a genuinely despised figure by most people in non-league footie who remember his rip-off Clubcall phone lines in the pre-internet days of the 1980's (although slightly less despised by some since clip Rods came on the scene grin)

Russian/Lithuanian girlfriend/wife = a Ukranian model (actually, a former Miss Ukraine) and the latest bit of totty to appear on "younger reporter's" arm. Some cynics would suggest that younger reporter uses an escort agency service to boost his ego, but not me - honest guv! angel

I almost wish I'd gone to this game but, as Wader knows, I've been waiting for the hand pump situation to resolve itself. My taste buds are now telling me that a trip to the Carlsberg Stadium is not very far away now. beer

You remember how the very large man with the even larger voice was verbally abusing the Hertford No.10, calling him "lard-[****!!****]" and a "complaining whinging pub player"? Did he call him that yesterday?

Bone to pick with you sjj2112 - it was YOU that was winding up R S Cavendish at Erith & Belvedere the other week regarding his collation of corner kick stats but, having read the draft, it's ME that he's put in his forthcoming book as the person who was showing a "keen interest". I did tell him that it was you and was only a feigned interest at best but he's having none of it. doh

Ah well. There goes my chance of fame...... grin

It wasn't so much "feigned interested" as full blown p**s-taking!

Exactly as recommended by The FA. It only affects things at certain times of the year and of course when it is sunny grin

The main upside is that of course on those frosty wintry days the main stand won't be sheltering the pitch from any sun and therefore melting any ice or snow - I recall that affecting other pitches badly and particularly Stansted's!

Anyway back to topic. The injury crisis at The Carlsberg is abating and now causing selection problems of its own. Dream debut though for Kevin Cooper yesterday and his brace helped the team to a 7-1 victory.

In the next few weeks the league will settle down a bit I suppose but it's still a little early to call off those predictions for end of April. Hanwell Town, Harefield and Chalfont are the danger boys no doubt, but there are others who certainly can't be and won't be written off. Our injury problems just proved that even with a big squad a team will go through dodgy times at some point in the campaign.

For us it's how we come out of that poor spell that's so important. How those now pushed back on the bench react and how professional we can be as a squad after the traumas of the last 5 weeks. If the players want to achieve they have to pull together on and off the pitch.

I think this run-in from now to 2009 will be a crunch time for those teams with any aspirations.

Interesting that you don't mention Kentish Town by name or bracket them with Hanwell, Harefield and Chalfont

or Biggleswade United, who have won their last six consecutive league games!

They were the obvious front runners from the outset.
As I said - "there are others who certainly can't be and won't be written off"
