Hi there guys. Thanks for the well wishes. We seem to have corrected our defensive problem. It wasn't our best performance by far but I felt as if North Greenford didn't really perform and we literally walked the ball into the back of the net 3 times. Could have scored more in the second half but the keeper made some great saves. The surface was perfect for our passing game.

 

I expected more from a team in a higher level than ourselves and second in their league. In comparison, the SSMFL must be a tougher league. Nice to get the win. Hopefully we'll take this result into Wednesday and beyond, and start competing with the league front runners.

 

Not too bothered by Bedford Town Reserves, because if they are in the top 2 it means it will be the other two teams in the top three going up (subject to this and that). Still I think, Hatfield, Kings Langley, Royston and Amersham will make it an interesting season. Having got a lot of our away games out of the way, now would be a good time to make Hanwell Town into our fortress.

 

Watch it back fire on me this Wednesday.

Good Citizen - Yes indeed your new signings will take some time to gel, when I saw the Biggleswade defeat I saw not a lot of togetherness and drive from some of the players, hopefully now the players you have kept and the ones that have come in can come together and put a run together. A few wins will get you right up the table and with no cups to worry you it is well achieveable.

 

Special1 - I would have expected more from North Greenford as well, cup games are funny though. Interesting to hear your comment about the SSML been a better league I would agree that maybe the SSML is played at a faster pace from what I have seen this year, but on any given day one team can beat another as shown but the cup results today. I knew the pitch at North Greenford would suit you :-).

 

As regards your game on Wednesday I think it is a must win game for you as Kings are 2th in the table, time now for Sport Benfica to put a 5-6 game winning run together and digging deep in matches that arent going to plan. I may be in attendance on Wednesday night so im expecting the team to have the spirit for the battle otherwise ill be over to you to tell who to give a rollicking :-) Technically and skill wise you must have the best group of players in the division but to be consistent requires that something extra.

Special1 - I'm only trying to help, Hector and I both felt that you were superb against Hertford Town and would have won if you hadn't tried to walk the ball into the net at every opportunity, can't you take criticism constructively.

You never have any time for Forum members on match days, you're a one man band and are constantly in headless chicken mode from meeting and greeting, giving out programmes, making sandwiches and Coaching, you really need to get more hands on deck other than your eccentric President.

Ha-Ha I actually think the eccentric president is very good entertainment, although by his own admission he needs to be careful of his heart.

 

Rhodes could you and the Special1 work together, if you were involved at Sport Benfica im certain you could help out off the field and also enjoy some great football week in week out :-)

The Citizens played well again today, but this time got the result their play in the last two games merited and with out Harry Hunt, who signed for Hendon midweek. New boys Chris Doyle 2 and Matt Thomson got the goals, back four looked solid, two centre backs were outstanding and keeper very good. Onwards and upwards...we hope.

I'm new to all this, so could someone please tell me how the "Village based" teams got along this weekend? Did any of them take on the might of the inner city ghetto teams like Kentish Town, Haringay etc? Do these "Village based" teams, need police esccorts when they come into the big smoke? Do they have to plan their journeys months in advance? Do their spectators wear straw hats and carry pitch folks with them??

Hi Guys, we signed 3 centre backs, from other sources, thank you, who have all started playing now, so, as I said, we should be stronger!!! Berko tmw night will be a good test.

 

Our 0-1 defeat to Crawley Green the other week, doesn't look quiete so bad after Leverstock Green conceded 2 against them on Saturday and were within 6 minutes of losing. Great comeback though.
