TRS, in a week I have been at the same match with 4 forum members and they have all blanked me. I feel so unloved.

Decent start to be honest. The team did exactly what I asked them. I had heard Dorking where half decent going forward so just told our lads to let Dorking back four try and ping the ball long. Thought the 11 was decent with good feet but went no where. The number 6 had a shocker. Dorking keeper looked very good claiming some difficult balls in the air.

we were all sporting identifying clues surrey and were stood at the left hand end of the newly finished bar after the game. i was expecting a collina lookalike and I thought i remembered your picture on an avatar.

I looked at a few people I didnt know and was listening for clues, apologies for not tracking you down.

Keeper and skipper are plenty good enough, but the side just cant score goals.

The side needs a midfield leader and proper centre forward, who the smaller faster players can play off.

A settled side would help, as the team is currently less than the sum of its parts.

Cove 3 Bookham 2, cove were 2 up inside 20 mins with goals from in form pair of Alex Jeffers and Martin Girling and playing really well, allowed Bookham back into the game with two sharp finishes after sloppy defending.second half saw the introduction of Ashley Childs from the bench with 30 mins left and he turned the game back in Coves favour,in the 75th minute from a pin point cross from mom Johno, Ashley's far post header was to powerfull for the keeper and Cove took the points.

Farleigh Rovers 1-4 Westfield

Dont be fooled by the result - we were terrible but saying that we will always score goals with the attacking options we have.

Things going well though overall as not one of the Westfield XI who played at Farleigh in the final game of last season is at the club now.

Looking forward to Dorking on tue night, should be a good game

We had only 2 players in our starting 11 yesterday that played for the club last season, players will always come and go at this level it's a fact but I must say that I've never seen it this bad before, what we at Cove are trying to do is build a team of players from this area and hopefully it will build a more committed team.I feel that if a player comes from the same area as the team he plays for then he will have more loyalty and motivation than somebody who has to travel 30or40 miles, that's my opinion I may be wrong but time will tell and as we all know you don't get a lot of that in football anymore.

I must say that from a managers point of view at this level you get more out of people you know and who know you than you do out of a reputation, when you bring people in from miles away you don't really know what makes them tick, maybe it works the same with players when a manager comes from miles away what do the players know about him, and would you get as much respect?

No need to comment on the Epsom v Camberley game as Swoonara got it pretty spot on. Pitch was an embarrassment to football at any level and the fact that the corner flag wouldn't stay up on the far side of the pitch added to that...

I dont usually moan about the ref's as I understand they have a tough job but the one from yesterday was as good as the conditions!

Disapointing defeat to Dunc's and Johnno's Cove crew yesterday, as Dunc's said Cove went 2up early on 2nd goal was well worked from left to right flank and topped off with a good cross. We finally started to pass the ball about and scored to neatly played passing goals with Woodward and Mcgregor linking well provide each other to score, sadly half time came and we did not produce in the second half to match the final 15 mins in the 1st, battled well but poor final ball and dont think we created a half chance on goal. Cove played well and are lively down the flanks and up top and credit to them deserved the 3 points. Johnno played well and got to meet Queenie in the centre of the park. Long way to go and a few positives to take out of the game.

Quote:
Woods 2-2 Ash.

All I know is Ash got a late equaliser.

I managed to get to this one - eventually - bl@@dy Kingston shoppers!

Got there 15 mins late - doesn't sound like I missed much - as a neutral I can say Ash had the better individuals but CWU were better organised. Ash also looked fitter in the last 15mins - maybe they're a bit younger too? Both CWU goals tidy enough - they took the lead - good run in from the corner of the box - blasted high into the net. Ash equalised near 1/2 time - forward bursting through hauled down - a bit 50/50.

2nd half - Game ebbed and flowed a bit then CWU scored midway through 2nd half, goal almost identical to the first.

Like I said last 15 mins, Ash pressed but often fell foul of the lino's flag. In the end tempers frayed and an Ash player got Red carded for abusing the ref, following another very dodgy flag. Ref then sent another Ash 'sub/coach/official?' off for hurling abuse at said lino - didn't sound too bad and I was stood almost between the two - but the lino must've got the hump.

Justice served with Ash equalizing in approx 96th minute sweeping move shot into bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Other things to note - it was wet and horrible!

- Small ish crowd 40/50 -must've all been shopping! frown

- Very loud 'individual' from Ash prowling the far touchline - probably why so few of the crowd sheltered in that little stand. Can't believe the lino over there didn't find a new place to stick his flag. wink

- both sides looked competent enough if a little 'ring-rusty' - can see Ash being upper half - I'm sure they'll improve with familiarity.

It is good to have competitive games back again though. I look forward to meeting Crusty this weekend as well. Hopefully he will talk to me.

Sorry SL, blame Watto as he didn't introduce us! Will try and make the return fixture at FG and will seek you out! Agree about competitive football being back, great innit happy
