Ok so - views on today... in random, late night alcohol affected order.

 

Can the club please have signs directing away fans to the correct turnstiles - was asked twice were these were by Mansfield fans. Am sure they enjoyed the view of the Car-Wash - that is the shortest way to the away end, isn't it?

 

Catering - feck me, thats definitely the wrong word for it.

I thought (was led to believe) that this was something that was up for review during pre-season? The stuff on offer is over-priced, foul sh!te. And having to queue in the rain for it just adds insult to injury... Get this sorted please!

 

Bar - Another area of concern. The club lost money here today. There must be a faster way of getting people served, especially at half-time. Maybe having a separate 'bottle-only' counter, say

Good day out despite the weather , We were terrible in the first half, I didnt expect much with the short time Mcewean had to assemble a team but it was a disgrace, at half time i wouldnt of been suprised to go home with a scoreline of 4.0. Even at 2.1 you had chances to finish the game, but i think after the chances we started to take command and out muscled you. Although it was a draw i think we were a lot happier with it than you. I know we will go from strength to strength. if we can play that bad and come out woith a point , im optimistic about the season, I think you will do well this season. Had some good banter with your fans, dissapointed with our turnout but weather didnt help. See some of you on the return match and good luck for the season

Wembley seems a long time ago now, back to the good old 2 half performances!

Think Akinde for Gash should have happened. Gash did well, but thought he was slowing up more then moore in the second half, that should improve with his now full time training tho.

 

Point is a good start, everyone would have taken it at the start.

Just felt it was a shame that the chances weren't created a few minutes earlier - if they had, it would have probably been Moore on the end of those 3 opportunities and I would have taken him to put at least 1 away.

 

I thought Moore worked ultra hard - to suggest as KShep does that he "wasnt winning anything in the air" is just plain daft - thats not his role and never will be.

 

The biggest surprise though is that we should be surprised at our failure to win our 1st game - we've only won our 1st game twice in the last 10 seasons (including this season), I believe - of those 10 games, 7 were at home and our record reads W1 D2 L4 - the only win being against Northwich last season. The 3 away games in the same period gave 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss, so overall, 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats.

Hi Patman. A completely sober reply, from me, more's the pity!

Regarding directing fans to the away turnstile, that's one of the things we employ stewards to do... Ermmm, I'll look into it.

 

Food - We're adding up the results of the survey at the moment. Assuming we got enough responses to be a representative sample, it will highlight what the majority of fans want changed. I am not disagreeing about the food by the way, it's certainly not to my taste but I think it's important to fix what the majority see as an issue first then work on the other stuff. And I did see someone had scored the food 8 out of 10. I don't think a form was handed over the counter for the cooks to answer...

 

Bar - Massive problem with the drinks cooler, meant only 1 draught beer tap was working instead of 5. That sort of thing might happen sometimes, I think where we fell down was not explaining that to the people queuing for a drink. There will also be an extra bar person from the next match onwards.

 

Minute's Silence? The Mansfield fans were in great voice and yelling and shouting right up to the second the ref blew his whistle to start the silence. I braced myself to be really disappointed but was incredibly impressed by the fact they stopped instantly, and observed the whole minute with respect. I had to turn and applaud them for that.

 

Yellow boxes and stewards? Give the Safety Officer another couple of weeks. We still have issues but there is an improvement. We'll definitely get there.

 

Football? Don't ask me, I don't have a clue :-) But I keep seeing the word "deft" (I think it was an "e" not an "a") applied to the touches Gash puts to the ball. That header of his just before half-time, ball coming from the left wing and he "deftly" headed to the right, (to Ricky I think?) was just superb control, even though nothing came from it.

 

And the language? Well whatever the crowd were chanting about the ref. Edit: <<Self-preservation mode ON>>
