Ross Smith Update

Just had a call from Ross's dad, Graham, who became a big Fleet fan when Ross was at Stonebridge Road. He called from Toronto to wish the Fleet all the best for the new season and said that last week end he and his wife Liz took some visiting Scots friends to see Ross play at home in Rochester, New York and at Montreal. At the end of the game in Rochester it seems that Ross was surrounded by a group of well wishers on the pitch who turned out to be visiting Fleet fans!

Ross Smith was arguably one of the nicest players we've had in years! I watched a game with his parents once when they were visiting and they were absolutely lovely as well. I hope he has a great season in Rochester.

The Rhinos are in rebuilding mode this season, but have one of the nicest soccer-specific stadiums in North America in PAETEC Park. Once was in the running for a MLS franchise, but off the field problems have all but killed that from happening.

I dont wana raise too many hopes, but a friend of mine who speaks with Ross got a message, from Smithy himself, saying that he hopes to return to the fleet after the season in US, and was offered a contract at Dagenham, snubbing it to play in the states. Would love to see him back at Stonebridge Road!
