Stay positive

Hi, I've read with interest the posts on this foram for several months. Ok most of the posts are positive, but a few are not, sad that your young players may be reading these, how do they feel?

Ok I'm a Red supporter, but I wish you all the best for this season.

Thank you for your kind words.

ersonallly, i think given the circumstances, the overwhelming majority of posts on here have been very encouraging.

Again, kind words Jogn558,but possibly not very congruent with your posting on the ramsgate forum under the thread 'its official' where you speak of Margate in a less encouraging tone !!

Do you think a little more consistency on your behalf is called for?

Unfortunately John the abuse some may post on here will be mild compared to the verbal abuse they may face on the pitch. I think u r right to say stay positive, but many supporters are very sceptical of the "new" set-up and will no doubt voice

their views on the terrace - I just hope that the younger lads in the team do not take this to heart and prove themselves worthy on the playing field where everyone can see 100% commitment and pride of wearing the BLUE shirt.

Some supporters were not too happy with much last year and at one match felt disgusted by our own fans with the way they lambasted the players for no reason when the score was still nil nil.
If it happens again I for one will turn on the fans involved to question their comments

what situation are we in? Many teams play lower league teams in pre season so that they can rebuild their team and sort them out without getting hammered every week.I think we have played some good teams and considering 'our position',we have had a good pre season.I personally am very positive about what we can achieve this season and the more people who give the team and club 100% support the better the results will be.

A couple of points:

1) The whole 'it's all gonna be local kids' hype/frenzy hasn't really come to fruition, has it? Of the XI that will start against Carshalton, I reckon just Smith and Quain will fit that description. And, of course, they played for us last season. As BA said when he took the job, young players will be introduced into the team gradually.

2) When you have a large number of new players to look at it is best to be playing friendlies where you will have a decent amount of possession. That way you can better assess people. Matches against Football League teams would have just seen those same players chasing around after opponents and wouldn't have taught us a great deal.

Have to concede to your second point CE,and in all honesty had not thought of that-but you are right.

Still think one final game against tough opposition would have been worthwhile; but overall see your point exactly.

I totally agree on your second point. On your first I think when local was mentioned it meant from Kent I thought not just Thanet. At least that is what Barry, Neville etc said in their interviews so the likes of Stubbs, Wilson fit that bill and are still young as is Scott of course.

Hickman looks like he will be in the team-local guy i believe.

I don't know, but i suspect Power is also either a Man of kent or a Kentish Man.

If Corbishley is signed-is'nt he from Maidstone so lots of Kent guys.

If Gregory is signed-is'nt he local aswell

Without sounding too Royston Vasey, Kent is a pretty big place so I don't think you can say someone from 50 miles away is properly 'local'. Jimmy Jackson, Jay Saunders and James Pinnock live in Kent, were they local? Certainly much of the publicity this summer has given the impression, if it didn't say so explicitly, that we would be dragging toddlers out of Dane Park and sticking them in a blue shirt.

To look at it in a positive way, all of those teams against whom we have played friendlies were playing against a team in a higher league than themselves so we shouldn't undersell ourselves should we?
