mdetaylor
From the chap who does the programme: " The Marching On Trophy was presented twice. Once to Clarky, then to The Vickers. It still sits pride of place in the Clubhouse. The supporters Club did use it for the first season but have since found the old one to use. The legacy will forever be at City"
HelenC
AFF. For you anything! Wilmott came 2nd and Chalinor 3rd in the Supporters Player of the Season. There were lots of other votes but unfortunatley, these three ran away with it!! I hope Crawshaw is feeling thristy, as he has won a LARGE bottle of champagne (equivalant to 20 bottles, but I cant remember what it is called! Kindly donated by Safeway).

AFF
Hi HelenC. Just out of curiousity, Helski, where did Simon Martin come in the proper one? Hi mdet. Hmmn. Thanks for clearing that up. Those were the Great man's words?
HelenC
About 5th or 6th I think
AFF
But the top three "ran away with it" so the ginger haired one was well behind those three. Strange that. Top scorer, I believe. You said earlier that you tried your hardest to make sure that no-one voted twice. You did really well, Helster. Great stuff. well done, once again. Any idea where Steve Castle came? mdetaylor
Indeed straight from the horses key board as it were AFF. Any news on the fees?
AFF
Hi mdet. Strange one this. The agent submitted his account immediately following completion. The Solicitors put theirs in a day or so later at the same figure! I suspect that the solicitors halved the hours from the time sheet to get to that level. Gesture of goodwill etc. Is the printing chap happy that his donated silverware is frozen in time, so to speak, with Vickers as Pots 1998/99. mdetaylor
I would have thought that it has a certain symbolism of greater times, a memory of a bygone age and that he is more than happy that he, Marching On and the team of that season are in some way frozen in time in the clubhouse. That is not to say that Marching On may never be resurected or that the MO PoTS award will never be presented again - watch this space! On more mundane matters I imagine the landlord's solicitors (assumption here as to the party) may have got an undertaking for fees to an agreed level (agent agreed at the same level) and that they cannot bill above that. I will PM with a further suggestion.
HelenC
The Supporters Club player of the season WAS NOT rigged at all and AFF, I dont think he got a single vote I'm afraid to say.
GHA EFM
Helen. Allow AFF to correct me if I am incorrect, but I think the point AFF is aiming to reach is as follows...: Helen. You did a good job with the Supporters' Club Player of the Season award. Everything seemed to go smoothly, and Gary Crawshaw was a deserved winner. Congratulations, and good work. The differences between the Supporters' Club Player of the Season award and the Website Player of the Season award are striking, to say the least. Simon Martin won the website award. When this was announced, a certain person was quick to announce (after allegations had been made that a bit of fixing had taken place) that it was nothing to do with this person, even though no-one had even suggested it was them. This could be an indication of a guilty conscience; of someone 'protesting too much.' In my [GHA's] opinion, and in the opinion of a few other people, Gary Crawshaw should have won the Player of the Season vote. Just because a player has scored the most goals does not mean they should be Player of the Season. For me, Jon Challinor should have come a close second. In the Supporters' Club Player of the Season vote, Richard Wilmot came second, and Jon Challinor came third. These three, in your words, 'ran away with it.' Simon Martin, according to you, came about 5th or 6th. In the Supporters' Club Player of the Season vote, as much effort was made as possible to ensure no-one voted twice. One would assume that the Supporters' Club Player of the Season, and the Website Player of the Season, would be fairly similar in terms of results. After all, if you go to matches you will vote in the Supporters' Club vote, and if you go on the website, you will vote in the Website vote. It seems unlikely that anyone would vote for two different people in the two votes. The impersonal nature of voting on the internet means that whilst every attempt is made to stop rigging, it can still take place. I think it would be fair to say that it would be easier to rig the Website Player of the Season vote than the Supporters' Club Player of the Season vote. Helen. AFF is pointing out that the differences in the voting patterns of the two awards are, shall we say, perplexing, to say the least. I don't think AFF is questioning the reliability or validity of the Supporters' Club Player of the Season award, however.
AFF
Thanks for that, GHA. Helski. You and your Committee did a very good job and I was delighted to hear that Gary Crawshaw and De Souza's goal came out on top. Both of those were my choices, by the way. I was casually interested in where Steve Castle came in your poll thing as, at one stage, he had received 135,000 votes on the web-sites poll thing. I was particularly curious to hear Simon's position for as you know, he won the poll on here after a Steward's enquiry rejected 134,999 of Steve's votes. Simon won with 14, I think. Allegations of vote rigging of the site's poll to ensure that the ginger haired one won were vigourously denied [interestingly before any such allegations were made], by a certain person who should reamain nameless. Simon's prize, a Ferrari 365, I gather, will be closely watched. GHA is spot on for the rest. I don't know where he gets it from. Keep up the good work, Helster. Oh, by the way. I saw the Herts Ad last night. Some chap called Robin P****** sponsored the Player of the Month award for April, and he will make the presentation before tomorrow's match. Fair play to Robin. I shall get to t'Park early tomorrow as there are to be a lot of presentations. I hope the chap who does the tannoy thing will be able to cope. I'll bring some throat lozenges. Right, you lot are really starting to p*ss me off now. I did not rigg the voting. i voted just once. So you think you know it all, you think you have a higher intelligence than most so therefore people have to listen to what you have to say and should take notice and agree with your opinion? I decided that i had better protest my innocence becuase most of you would probably jump to the conclusion that i had voted for him more than once so that he could win, and that is what you have done. You automatically thought, "hey, she likes Simon, i bet she voted more than once so that he could win. I don't personally rate him a good player, i don't think he should win, i think Gary, or Jon should have won. It's not fare i wanted them to win. This poll is rigged". I think these views are coming from a spoilt personality that believes that they should have their way, or their views acted on and don't like the fact that obviously, some other have different views and have voted for the player, who they think, deserves to win. Once again, i have not got a guilty concience, and i only voted once. If Simon did win becuase someone rigged it, it was not because of me. Would you like it if, say, Jon or Gary won and i didn't believe they deserved it and turned around to you and said that you had rigged it, lets say because you were able to in various ways? As far as i'm concerned, Simon won that award farely, and i don't think he deserves people critising his achievement.

Rob_the_Saint
Can I have one last say on the matter as well? There was NO vote rigging, the only discrepancy was a sudden influx of votes for Mr Castle on the last night - about 15 actually, which I removed. Other than that, in my humble opinion, it was a fair vote. Obviously, being on the Internet, anybody could have voted, not just SACFC supporters, and it wouldn't take a genius to work out how to vote more than once, if you were so inclined, which is why it was not meant to taken too seriously and detract from the Supporters Club poll which is the 'main event' as it were. Anyway, we've all had a bit of a laugh, and it's given us something to talk about during a 'dead' part of the season so I suppose it has had some benefit, though I will think seriously about doing it next season if it causes all this much fuss. Thread now closed (again).
