John Akinde

Personally, I think people are writing John off too quickly. What he did at Wembley & the way he carved through the Millwall defence when he came on last week is enough to convince me that he could be absolutely devastating for us at the start of this season, so much so that clubs will be falling over themselves to offer us & him a very good deal. Why on earth would they wait until his contract had run out & risk losing him when with, what for them is a bit of cash, they could be sure of securing him?

John just needs to be convinced that turning it on for us will benefit the Club & himself. However, if he's been reading a lot of what is on here, he's probably decided that some people think he's an overrated, lazy, thankless git, whilst other view him as a bag of cash rather than a human being with a promising future in front of him.

I say, stick with the Fleet for now, John. Do yourself & us proud & who knows what could be round the corner.

Phew, I thought I was the only one.

I to think you've all written him off too quickly.

I also think that you seem to think that he's some big idiot that will just follow the money to a league club even if he knows he'll be sitting on the bench.

Akinde's not stupid, I've been led to believe he's got his head screwed on and won't do anything rash, give the guy some credit.

If he walks away next summer with us in the Football League after having banged in 30 goals for himself to get us there then I for one will be very happy.

What odds can you get on John Akinde turning out as a number 9 for England one day?

I saw him picking up the cones at Burton after a pre match warm up.

I wonder if they are the same people(MyFC newbies),that came on here and started off by discussing how much the Club could sell Cronin for?

It doesn't make any sense to sell him to a League 2 club when there's at least a fair chance he could be in League 2 with the Fleet in a year or two. A higher club, I can understand the temptation for him. But realistically, he hasn't even had a full season of conference play. From pure self-interest, of course, I'd love him to stay.

Its still a tough balancing act though... At this moment in time he could go for x pounds. If he wants to go (which only he knows!) then he may not perform either intentionally or not and thus reduce in value?! Maybe he will perform and he wants to stay and he'll score 30 and hel go to a Championship side for

I think the contract thing is a bit of a red herring

Because of John's age we would get money for him whenever we sold him

I would rather it was sorted out now or preferably left for him to get on with playing for us

He has not had a particularly inspiring pre-season because of niggles and I guess this is hanging over him

If we have to settle for what a tribunal offers it could easily be a flat fee with no sell-on clause.

'Cause darlin', darlin', can't you see I want you to stay
