england cricket captain

C'wood was nearly dropped five days ago, rules him out.

Making Strauss captain would mean they are replacing one Vaughan with another: A player lacking runs.

Pieterson: Not of the mould. Too selfish at the moment, and if he was to be captain would he say to himself "i better not play this reverse sweep in-case i get out?"? Doing so would lower his runs, and bring more pressure on himself. However, not doing so would result in people questioning his captain pedigree.

A major overall is due I think. We can not be messing around with our team next July, it needs to be done now. Tour India with a weak team if need be, let them gel and glue out there and have them coming as a force for the big one next summer. Key, Denly, Shah, Broad, Harmison, Bopara should all be in the mix for a spot.

Denly is at a similar stage as Cook was when he got called up, go for it. When it had become clear that Collingwood had resigned too there was an announcement at St Lawrence along the lines of "As well as Vaughan's resignation Collingwood has also stepped down as One Day Captain, know announcement has been made, however i'm sure you've all heard the same rumours as I"

A lot of belief around the ground today that it will be Keysey.

Suprised Cantos hasn't popped up with a "Kolpak" Kent comment following that post! Why Essex for the one day? We have a 100% record in the Pro40, went further tha you in the T20 and we have won the Friends Provident smile

Looks like we will have TWO South African captains on the pitch in the next test then. Being a captain I doubt he will bowl himself much either, and I would like to see himself bowling more.

Greg Rusedski syndrome I see coming up. Fine Englishman when he hits a century next week, South African born Pieterson when we lose to the convicts next summer.

The beauty of this fans focus site is that there is a specific cricket forum:

http://www.nonleague.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/forums/71/1.html

Whats more-there's also a joke forum.

http://www.nonleague.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/forums/13/1/Laughter_Lounge.html.

The only thing missing seems to be a smiley forum for those obsessed with those things.

Now i 'm over 50 its really cool being a miserable Old Git.

Up the 'Gate
