Who was the big No. 6? He has played in some of our other games

and looks quite decent.

The only talking point of the first half was Barry Ashby's red card. There looked like a foul on Jay Peak (or whatever he's called) in the box. The ref didn't give it, Ashby was upset and continued to complain about it. Ref came over to him, and told him to sit in the stand. Ashby went into the stand. Ref then wanted him to sit in the dressing room and Ashby was escorted by a Chats official.

As for on the field, we were disjointed first half and Chatham carried more threat. Peak and Stubbs look like good players but, inevitably, with a new team it is going to take a while to gell.

We were better second half and Peters had two very good chances early on. One where he rounded the keeper but fired wide, the other a header which went over.

Power put us one-up with a tremendous shot on the hour mark. He was chasing a long ball down the right flank and blasted the ball across the keeper. It went in off the post. That was his last kick of the game as he was subbed for Coleman.

Peters hit the post with a shot from outside the box then it was 2-0 in the last minute. The goal was made by Pratt who beat the full back and cut the ball back. It was driven into the goalmouth where Coleman got the final touch.

Thanks for the 'reports ' guys..

The 'big no 6-if same guy as at Thamesmead-youngish with close crppoed hair -was called Sam i'm pretty sure-and at Thamesmead i thought did ok.

In this league-an average 'big 'un will probably do better than a good little 'un.Would be good to have some height and muscle in a margate side at long last.Again, i thought he was pretty capable at thamesmead and quite a good distributor aswell.

Is it just me-but whilst Smith and Young (if he is signed) are probably our best defenders -they don't seem to play too well together ?

Decent result i reckon..

well done Margate

I believe it was Sam Taylor at the back rather than Sam Wood. Blueswithsoul will give the correct names later I'm sure, those given by BA on the day.Nice to see TY following the club to each away game too.

BA sending off--something out of nothing in a friendly.Referee well over the top.

Lads did well today without looking like world beaters.

Corbishley & Young outstanding I thought.Pratt,(in his short time on the field impressed greatly)

Power goal a super strike though apart from a few nice touches he looks like he needs a few more games under his belt to see the best of him. He'll get better I'm sure.

Chatham it has to be said were a poor side with only a couple of real efforts on goal all 90 minutes.

Just back from the game, it was very much a case of us just about doing enough. The first half was very scrappy with neither side taking a hold of the game, 2nd half we controlled things much more, despite a few scares.

SCS was never really tested, but did the simple things well, his kicking has improved since last year.

Corbishley looked comfortable at right back, strong in the tackle and decent distribution.

Gregs was his usual self at left back, a solid performance, would have liked to see him get forward more.

Big Sam impressed me today, he must be about 6'4 and won everything in the air, as you would expect someone of that size to do. Despite his size, he's very mobile, would be useful to have in the side IMO.

Dan Young played very well, cleared his lines and was strong in the air. Showed the form that got him into the side in the first place.

Dan Stubbs is just full of energy, he started playing out wide on the left, where he linked well with Corbishley. Tough tackling and likes to get the ball down and play. Very impressive.

Aaron didn't have the best of games, but he was giving his all. Just a bad day at the office maybe.

Wayne Wilson played well, like to knock the ball around on the deck, when he and John Paul combined we looked a real threat.

John Paul was my man of the match, such a hard worker, started off playing behind the front 2, but really came in his own in the 2nd half when pushed out wide, he likes to beat his man and get the crosses in. What more can you ask from a winger?

Power took his goal very well...blasted into the bottom corner from a tight angle...his overall performance wasn't much to shout about, although the service he got was practically non-exsistant first half.

Peters showed moments of his class, but for the most part looked disinterested.

Hickman provided a bit more bite in the midfield when he came on, the fresh legs opened the game up.

Coleman still looks short of fitness, but he's showing some good touches. I'd like to see him out wide again. He grabbed the 2nd goal with a tap in.

Kenny Pratt had a very good game when he came on, totally skinned a full back to make the 2nd goal and was full of energy. A good option upfront for sure.

The other keeper that came on didn't really have much to do, few dodgy kicks, but came out and collected the ball well.

One other thing to note, Ashby was sent off about 20 mins in, an altercation with the ref, not too sure what was said, but obviously enough to have him sent off. Barry is incredibly passionate on the touchline, the ref clearly couldn't handle it.

I fear for any ref that gets in his bad books come the start of the league games.

All in all and average performance, Chatham never really offered much of a test. Cray may well be a different story.

We shall wait and see.

B.A.would have to break ALL records, not just local ones to even get near to your pair both vocally & more especially intimidation-wise.
But in time(a few years maybe)B.A might get close. Lets be fair here B.A hasn't had the practice your guys have had.

Roach not there today then.

personally, i liked the look of Roach at left back, with gregory in front of him at left midfield-giving extra defensive cover.

(Having said that ,whats happened to our left back signing from Dover-curtis robinson-after doing ok in first friendly at deal-he seems destined for the reserve squad )

I'd like to see us with 4 proper midfield players across the middle ,battling away and keeping possesion; as opposed to the wide midfield/winger type who rarely get into the game.

Keep it tight imo, rather than an expansive game.

We're going to be under alot of pressure next season, so the more possession we can keep by just holding the midfield, closing the opposition down; the extra minutes it gains will all help relieve the pressure on what will be a overworked defence next season.

If we can keep it tight, it gives us a fighting chance i reckon

Good to read that Young is getting back to his best.

I do hope BA signs him.(and taylor-you need 3 central defenders to allow for injuries, suspension, fatigue if we can afford it )

Did anyone ever find out where James Peak was playing before ?

similarly-Sam Taylor.

Ashby gets sent off (and in a friendly as well) - now that's the Barry Ashby I remember at Watford. All we need now is a few own goals (another speciality of his I recall) and I can re-live the good old days. Good example for the youngsters????
