Brentwood Town v Billericay Town

Saturday 2nd August, K.O. 15:00

Brentwood Leisure Centre & Arena

Doddinghurst Road

Pilgrims Hatch

Brentwood

Essex

CM15 9NN

Website: www.brentwoodtownfc.co.uk

The Brentwood Centre.

Once you enter the Centre the football ground entrance is in the far right hand corner of the car park. Normally they have vast amounts of parking available, but beware when special events are taking place at the Brentwood Centre, as the car park can then become very congested.

Difficult one to call this... in terms of chances we were much the better team, other than the goal and one which was well over I can't recall Brentwood having a shot, whereas we hit the post through Cole, had a goal missed by the lineo when McMahon saved it behind the line (no question it was over) and had a number of other good chances.

However I don't think we should be too happy about our performance - our passing and retention of possession was pretty poor and a decent team would probably have punished us. Thought defensively we did pretty well despite losing Dumas early on, but the reshuffle didn't help us.

Worster, McSweeney (Keys), Dumas (Black (Henry (Marron))), Cole, Heffer, Shave (Semanshia), Ferguson, Hunter, Flack (Bricknell), Woods-Garness (Burbridge), Wareham (West)

Dumas went off after a collision with Worster - apparently not too serious. Michael Black came on in midfield with Wareham playing at LB. Black was replaced by Henry who dislocated his shoulder sliding for the ball and was replaced by Marron. Semanshia came on in centre mid and did well in there I thought, definitely an option with our injuries at the moment.

I think if there was a bonus, it was Semanshia's performance TBH. With Dormer doubtful for the start of the season, we need someone who can provide a calm and tight presence in the middle with Leon.

Apart from that, I thought we were pretty lack lustre...

But these games are still pre season and mean bugger all paart from getting the players fit for when the real games start...

Good start for us, but Dumas going off seemed to upset the system for a while and the sloppiness that we showed at Wakering returned. The half time team talk on the pitch seemed to do the job and the second half was one way traffic.

I think it's just a question of the lads getting out of friendly pre-season mode and into competitive mode. There are after all only 11 starting places available and now only two more games for players to cement a starting berth. I'd still like to see another centre half if we can, as I'm not convinced Cole and Heffer is viable game in game out.

Another decent run out but I'm looking for us to crank it up now.
