Burnham Ramblers v Billericay Town

Wednesday 30th July, K.O. 19:45

ADDRESS :

Burnham Ramblers Football Club

Leslie Field

Burnham-on-Crouch

Essex

CM0 8TE

Website: www.burnhamramblersfc.co.uk

A12

Take the turn off for Witham and follow the signs for Maldon (B1018).

After Maldon continue on the B1018, and then the B1010 towards Burnham

Just before you get to Burnham on Crouch there is a garage on the left-hand side. Springfield Road is about quarter of a mile past the garage on the right.

Turn right into Springfield Road, then take the second turning on the right and then first right and drive through the gates of the ground.

A much changed team, as could be expected, although Burbs & BWG have started.

Losing 1-0 after 14m

Useful workout I think... not sure Jason and Grant will have had their minds changed by any of the performances tonight, for me the only question is whether they feel the need to keep a forward as short term cover while Flack and Billy come back from injury.

Team

Wayman, McSweeney (Edwards ht), Bagiest, Cole (Dumas ht), West, Henry (Bricknell 70), Hunter, Woods-Garness (Mbala ht), Burbridge (Manambu ht), Eames, Graham (Shave ht)

Good to see Bricknell getting a run-out, looked quite sharp playing on the left.

Overall not a bad game. First half we were a bit disjointed but that was only to be expected considering that we had about 6 regular players playing. Second half we played with a bit more purpose going forward. There were still a few trialists on show but we manage to claw back the equalising goal.

Nice to see Billy Bricknell back.

Over the past six pre season friendlies Jason and Grant have given the trialists a good run for their money and I think they would know for certain now who can play and who can't.

By tomorrow or Saturday, we'll all know who is in the squad for the coming season and the last three friendlies will be there to get the players sharp for the campaign.

Nice ground to visit is Burnham,

The lads looked all over the place in the first half but to be fair some of these guys never played on the same team before.

One or two of the trialists (bless them) were being instructed from the manager which is as it should be, But taking instruction from their familys can't be doing them any favours.

I thought P Shaves held the team together in the 2nd and as mentioned good to see Billy get a touch or two.

MOTM for me was their number five huge bloke and was all over our forwards. they simply bounced off of him. Many a rugby club would be proud to have him in the line up.

Score 1-1

But the winners on the night yet again them bloody gnats.

I thought it was embarrasing listening to a dad giving his boy instructions. The only people a player should be listening to is his manager and his team mates. At the end of the day the lad must have been around 17 yoa.

As for the game i thought Leon was our mom. Really showed a captains performance with a lot of grit. Our regular first teamers imo look a cut above the majority of the trialists.

I guess i chose the wrong friendly in 2 days !! 8 goals one night and 2 another grin
