From what i have seen so far MM, the reserves are lacking a bit all over the park.

I guess that this is because some are playing/Trialing with the first team, and that MW is trying out various things pre-season.

Until BA selects who he wants, i guess the reserves will struggle a little until they get a settled squad.

I am glad that Dover 1st team have a match against the Gills.

Good luck lads for Tuesday. You will have my support.

"Good" doesn't do the team justice. Joe could have had 5, Paul Axon is starting to get back to the form he had before going stale warming Trotties bench last season. At 1/2 time TY had the full back's plus wide midfield followed by the centre backs out coaching at 1/2 time and it payed dividends in the second period. 2nd 1/2 the lads out thought, out played and out ran Dover who, are not a bad side.

A good attendance tonight. Everyone who attended seemed to enjoy it.

Looks a strong team .

I think many of us thought that would be more like the first team this season !

Surprised Robinson not getting more run outs for first team-and certainly jo Taylor seems to desrve a go in the first team squad.

Who exactly is mark 'bear'.

we have obviously lost Lamprell. Not heard much of Bowles recently-has mark 'Bear' effectively stepped in front of bowles in the pecking order

Well done.

A team like that should do really well in the league-and be well worth watching.

Think there is 9 of the 'first team squad' in that line up tonight.(and one who ought to be-Taylor )

Possibly poses the question-can you get more out of a squad who are used to each other and have a 'team ethic' and game plan ,than you can from assembling a new squad of players as BA is endeavouring to do from the first team friendlies.

Narrowly, i think BA is doing it the right way-as we do need more quality and experience in the ryman -as it is a completely different standard-this again augers well for the future though-if we can just survive this year.

well done the reserves and those who coach them

Match Report

First Half a pretty tight affair. Both teams passing the ball around well. Margate very disciplined and well organised throughout.

Margate edging the first half through a well taken finish by the young Sam Cliffe.

Margate had most of the possession, with 3 to 4 good opportunities to score.

Joe Taylor missed a couple of chances and Sam Cliffe narrowly missing for his second.

The gate keeper was never tested and i don't think that our defence conceeded a corner.

1-0 to the Gate.

I'm not sure what Terry Yorath saw was wrong with the full backs, but he had them out at half-time for some tactics, which obviously paid dividends.

Second half started much like the first until 7 minutes in and a cross from right midfield (McAree) splitting the defence and Joe Taylor finding space, bringing the ball down from his chest/arm?? to slot home from 18 yards (benefit of the doubt CHEST - a well taken goal Joe).

Then came an excellent goal on approx 60mins from Joe Taylor with a sensational lob over the Dover keeper, who got a finger tip to it, but the lob was too well executed for 3-0 to the Gate.

Then not to be outdone by JT's previous goal steps up Paul Axon (with a contender for goal of the pre-season)who picked the ball up from around 30 yards (taking no notice of the crowd/players/managers to pass the ball) to unleash a peach of a shot flying over the keeper into the roof of the net for 4-0.

The fith then followed a couple of minutes later from a rare Dover corner. Chaz Albrecht managed to beat an advancing Dover player and out muscled him to the second ball, driving forward down the right flank, rolling in Chris Lewis, who's first time pass come cross was placed into the path of Nick Moir who hit an unstoppable first time shot into the Dover net. Probably the quickest break goal that i have ever seen at HDP end to end in about 6 seconds.

The sixth and icing on the cake came from Paul Axon's boot from a through ball from Chris Lewis (I think)slotting home to give the reserves a very convincing home win.

An excellent performance by everyone. If i had to pick a mom (which would be near on impossible)i would have to say Sam Noble. He was outstanding as were all of the team.

Credit to Dover, although they lost 6-0 they never gave up playing football and were a joy to watch.
