Pat Sappleton

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if Pat Sappleton was still with you? I've kind of lost touch with him over the years and the last I heard he was playing down at Hartsdown Park.

Is that the case or has he moved on? If so, any ideas as to where?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have just got back from holiday (great weather, great time, thanks for asking etc.) & see that Pat played a half against E&B. How did he perform? Did he look match fit? ... If reaction is positive - can we afford him?

Have posted on this thread as the E&B thread has gone off on a bit of a tangent.

I personally can't answer your questions Peter but a quick word in the ears of Barry Ashby about him on Saturday. "Is he staying, isn't he staying"?. Reply: "He's got a slight injury at the moment"..... Got nothing more!

I can't really see this happening-but hope to be wrong.

Surely he wil want too much money.

However, if he is also striving to get fitness, maybe he could be signed on a 3 month contract-get his fitness up, put himself in the shop window, give some experience to bed the players in during the early months, and help us in the early games that come thick\and fast;and maybe just help us through an extra couple of cup games-that would be worth paying for surely and be self financing.

Fingers crossed .would love to see him captaining the side at carlshalton

Thank you for your kind words Jeremy.

Your perception knows no bounds as when i start a post with the words 'i can't really see this happening' -most would interpret that anything other than having rose tinted spectacles.

Given that, you are absolutely correct that there is an underlying theme of why not make it happen.

My mind is set to how can it be made to happen.

I believe there is always a way.

Lets live in a 'can do' mindframe.

Its easy to find ways not to do things-the skill is in adapting and changing things so that they can happen.Again-there is always a way.

Now finding the way is the hard part-and we do not all succeeed all of the time-but in every instance-there is always a way to make things happen.

maybe this season, there is a way for the team to do well. The way is up to BA to find-maybe its extra training, organisation of the defence from last seasons shambles to a unit, better fitness, no stupid mistakes, recover from injuries quicker, there is always a way.

Just got to find it.

Michael, I'm also a firm believer if MTH but there are limits.

Sappleton (or rather his agent) would probably want a weekly wage way in excess of MFC's ability to pay.

Instead of worrying about players who are ambivalent of choosing Margate blue, why not concern yourself with the underlying problems at Hartsdown. Namely:

1. No lease in the name of Margate FC

2. Lack of a local sponsor (why?)

3. MFC has not filed accounts for over three years.

4. Without Gary Lever, what other income does the Club have?

5. The on-going issue of Mr Piper's shareholding

After reading this post and being a non margate supporter,i thought a club like yours should be promoting the club to draw in new support ,if i was a neutral supporter wanting to watch a side ,negative postings like this would certainly push me away,we at Ramsgate are promoting our club in any way possible,a true supporter gets behind there club in any kind of trouble GET BEHIND YOUR CLUB AND STOP WINDGING about the problems
