Whover he is it indicates a touch of realism

"only some wayward finishing kept the scoreline down"

& this against lower league opposition, suggesting it wouldn't have been easy to bounce back if the relegation had stuck?!.

Let's hope it improves when the matches actually mean something?.

As the ex England Manager who won the 1966 world cup I see the nueclus of a team that is a major step up on the disaster of a team that we had 12 months ago.

As we now have a playing budget of

Harper was told last season by Sweets that he would be our right back this season. Really don't see a problem with him playing right back. Has looked fine there.

Centre back alongside Pierson is the problem. You mention Daly, but anyone with a bit of pace against those two playing together would have a field day with the ball over the top. Never know, Fenton may be the answer, but not entirely sure what positon he plays.

Nothing wrong with trying different players in different positions in pre-season. That's what it's about. However, we've found out that those players are not the answers in those positions.

Was a disappointing defeat, but remember a couple of things.

1) We would have been at that level with them had we been relegated

2) They looked much more of a team and have been playing together for a few seasons now by all accounts. We have a lot of new faces and it will take time for our team to gell.

Have to agree with the comments about the bench though? 3 subs? Give some of the U18's a chance!!

Sorry old chum that alias will have to do for now,as I was meant to be at another game, checking on players.

You all have rather disapointed me some what in so much as like a lot of biased forum speak, you dig your heads further in the sand, rather than face the obvious.

If a player is not good enough then he's not good enough,if he's too slow (like Daly is now, once he was a fair centre back but not now )also if a player is not good enough and small, why is he playing centre back etc etc?

If you'd have read the posts on here you'd see that most people actually agree with you. However, if you claim to have some professional credentials you should have the courage of your convictions and put your name to it. Otherwise you come across as someone who tries to support their argument by claiming to be something they aren't.

Although ysterday's performance was poor I don't think you can judge whether players are good enough when half of them were playing out of position.

I don't understand,I explained my position in fairly ordinary English yet you don't seem to have grasped it.Anyway never mind I only posted the original message summing up the players and the game because I was asked to.
And a player playing out of position(bearing in mind good players adapt)can still be summed up surely. But there is one thing, if as you say many players were out of position then you must have loads to come back in..........

Please again we are off , these matches are here to find out how good and how not so good are players its all about trying and testing, far to many take these results to serious...

its all about experimenting , some players are trailest and are not slough players until the manager is satisfied -

its early days ...please be a bit more patient..

Chris - all the regulars are realistic and honest about the situation with the new squad and know that Derek is trying to find the right mix.

However optimistic is back and stiring the $hit!

Ray Readon or optimistic or who ever you are, none of us on here asked your opinion and if someone from the club asked you have posted on the wrong place as if you cant read this is the "fans forum" not the clubs site - now go and pot your pink in the brown.

Where in my posts have I NOT been honest and realistic about the game on Saturday? Sadly you trying to be funny ( and failing)does not hide what obviously we can all see.Not sure why I am answering you post because you clearly have no idea as to what a footballer looks like.
I hope the manager does get it right because I am a Slough fan also.

We seem to be getting our knickers in a twist here.

Someone we don't know comes on the forum and gives an opinion and people jump down his throat cos we don't know them.

Chill out, it was only a bloody friendly.

On the plus side, i was at the Observatory and saw the interest in the stall; It's fantastic to have such a prolonged presence in the High Street and i'd rather concentrate on the fact that the building blocks for a successful, well run and managed club is being put into place and we are finally heading in the right direction.

After years of mismanagement this is a very good reason to be cheerful.

Well said Warren, they are friendlies and even if we lost them all its the league games that matter.

As for the stall it's a brialliant way of promoting the club. Well done to all involved and much as I hate saying this because his head will only get bigger, great posters Glenny.

"Better level of oposition that tested our players, far more competative.

Not sure we have the defence sorted yet, but it might be due to us pushing forward more and leaving gaps at the back.

Attack looked strong, but would like to see more of Danny Jordan partnered with Platt and Pritchard just behind them feeding them balls to run onto - think this will be a major strength"

Readon was God - as you can see from the three sentances I posted to open up this thread I am well aware of the teams strengths and weaknesses and it does not take somone like you showing off by stating you were "an ex manager & profesional scout" to try and lord it on here, talking down to the regulars on here.

Lets hope you are not living with the expectations of the Reardon days as things have changed some what since then.

Some of us have been to all the pre-season games unlike the single game at Witney you saw, and you making your judgement from just 90 mins with only 3 subs limits your prespective of the overall set up.

So please dont make statements like "because you clearly have no idea as to what a footballer looks like" as it makes me question your professionalism - would you have said that to a manager or another scout?!

Just remember it is the little fan like me who pays the wages of profesional scouts like you!

Maybe Profesional scouts should be classed along side agents - yet another layer of leaches bleeding the non-league game dry.
