I guess it was more to do with the fact that you'd touched a nerve a bit earlier. The rules seem to be applied on a fairly discretionary basis. Swear and you'll probably get away with it, especially if it's funny. Annoy 'them' and then swear, and you're off.

Jeff
so why were all the others who changed their picture not banned as well?
ianinho
Cos he was first and it was a very clever thing to do. Cullen claims that he'd thought of it and sent out an invite to others. I, and others, then changed ours temporarily. But HJA was in there first with something that annoyed someone. The 11th commandment is 'Thou shallt not ......... the operator'. The 12th one is probably, 'Don't get too clever when we're riled'. Else the keyboard jockeys will spank you.
Gravesend_Princess
What i don't understand is how an offensive post can be put onto the forum when they have it strictly run by ft teams that are meant to moderate the content, so which one of the ft team is falling down on the job and allowing the offensives to get through in the first place?? Its a bit hard when all guns are blazing at 3:30 in the morning. There is no guarantee that an FT member will be on at this time, which is why it was dealt later in the morning
Gravesend_Princess
Well if they can't work out between them on a world wide membership basis to give 24/7 cover it looks to me that the members have picked the wrong ft team!
Darter
Members don't pick the FT, Gravesend Princess ... you are "tapped on the shoulder" by the Operator ...
Gravesend_Princess
To me it seems very poorly organised, i thought it was meant to be a democracy and yet the web team controls the forum, is that right?
ianinho
Sadly true. And if you don't behave you get untapped. There's nothing democratic about the FT. But then again, the operator owns the website, he's quite within his rights to police it any way he wishes. Users of his forum tend to forget this. Hi Darter. Hope you're well. I did a whimsey! on the other place earler, and didn't even claim it.
Gravesend_Princess
Yes perhaps it's a good job i didn't take my uncles advice and join them then, I'll stick to my guns and this site, warts and all!
Darter
GP, it is a strange arrangement. The Operator (Will Brooks) apponted the Web team, who are as far as I know paid employees. The Forum Team are appointed also by him - in the manner I described above. The Society Board was voted for by the members, so that is democratic. The Voting Committee were also voted for by the members - but they seem to now have additional powers as they were cited as being part of the group who decided to ban me. Rules are applied extremely inconsistently, and some members get away with constant carping and whining and are not censured at all. One of the reasons cited for my suspension was posting material from there onto this forum - I don't actually even remember doing this, although other members who are well-respected do it frequently and it is allowed. The only time I thought about doing it was in relation to the financial information - I asked MyFC if I could, was told "no" and didn't do it. I have also been criticised for quoting on MyFC posts from members who have been banned - even though those posts have been cited also by other members. Much of the posting on there now in relation to the recent bans has referred to this inconsistency. I have asked 3 times for information about the procedure which now comes into play to lift a suspension. I have simply been told that there is no appeal. That is not what I asked .... Darter
Ian, hi!! What a mess it all is now ... x
ianinho
Mess is one word for it. It feels like there's a bit of running for the doors - but we'll never know. The FT lackeys are strutting. And strangely the VC have been in the middle of everything.
Gravesend_Princess
Now i appreciate your situation but from what i can gather you were a formidable promoter of myfc but now seem so against the whole concept, is this because of a change in the way the democratic votes of members has changed the original concept or is it just hard feelings towards the WT over some other matter? ? ianinho
It's annoying that we didn't quite make it intact to the new season. The putsch was well timed.
ianinho
GP. Some of us are still big supporters of the concept. But democratic is not a word that sits easily around MyFC right now. The current direction is not set by any voting.

Darter
GP, I am not against MyFC - I am against what has happened there. The centralisation and censorship are bad, bad moves. I have some personal issues with an official who posted an abusive thread about me back in April and has never withdrawn the accusations, although he did apologise for hurting my feelings .... but I want the accusations to be withdrawn. He is not the issue though, for me. Ianinho is right, in his summing up of the whole matter. (going out now but will revisit this later on - this debate would not now be allowed on MyFC, I think ...)
