I really don't need anyone coming on here spouting off what someone has done for MyFC!

Well said Loosey grin

Can I disagree with this ..

I am interested in what MYFC members are upto, especially if it is aiding the Fleets cause. It helps to weigh up the negative aspects we get from MYFC on here sometimes.

I am not interested in what Harry J is up to.

Didn't say I was interested in whats going on at the MYFC forums, just said its good to hear MYFC members making efforts to assist the Fleet, and that will always be good to hear about. I am not interested in reading about clashing egos.

With DD only time will tell.

But it all comes down to numbers, either membership or attendances.

Up the Fleet

there will always be clashing egos in football wayne as thats what football is really all about....being better and winning...

I agree with you that the good and the sane myfc members have much to offer the fleet but they are just a few sadly...

like it or not it will all boil down to DD in the end if he keeps his nerve and puts the fleet first...

Thats why its important their good news stories get highlighted and dont get thrown out with the bathwater.

Lets just say on DD the jury is still out, but it is interesting you say he puts the Fleet first, as think that his only way of success is having the MYFC and Fleet interests as one and the same, and convincing the membership of that.

A strong membership will lead to a strong Fleet.

sorry wayne but I believe that DD must do the job that he holds above all else.... CEO of EUFC and leave everything else behind him...I have a gutfeel that he is clever enough to understand that and will also understand that as much as the club needs as many renewals from myfc as possible it is simply not a self sustainable option in the long term...

Wayne, I agree on all counts, and despite the black eye MyFC gives itself regularly, there are some interesting things being discussed in the less visible corners of the site.

One discussion as an example, is about whether the members, in conjunction with Liam and his staff, can organize some kind of open trial weekend. Anyone who thinks he's good enough to play for the Fleet can sign up, and the coaching staff will put them all through their paces, and narrow the field down to a couple of possibilities (if any come forth). Then perhaps they can trial with the club during pre-season.

It's been done for other sports, with mixed success. But it doesn't cost the club much, takes only a weekend of the staff's time (possibly the final weekend before the team reports for pre-season training), and it generates good PR for the club, and possibly even a good signing or two every couple of years.

It's only in a discussion phase right now, but I'd like to hear what you all think about such a weekend. Would Liam be likely to support it? Would anyone show up to try out?

The real question of course is how many are going to renew? Only 2000 bother voting for team selection could either mean 'Im not interested in picking the team' or 'I have lost interest altogether'. Buying membership on a whim will may be work once, but renewing? That's another thing altogether.

Stick with it guys - you may end up with your club back sooner than you think.
