Lights and Electricity

When are Windsor going to get the Floodlights sorted out? I read in Mr Simpsons programme notes that they have recently had a problem with O2, But the Floodlights have been failing for years now!

Its all well and good Matt Seedel having plenty of Fuse's to use, but when the lights go out we then have to wait half hour before we can turn them on again!!

Its embarresing, and with a large crowd for the QPR Game it might have attracted some new faces back again, but I doubt they will now after having to watch the final 20 minutes in darkness and with the Car and Burgular alarms going off!

That car alarm wasn't actually a car alarm. Although Iain Dowie couldn't work it out! He was pressing every button on his car to try and turn it off unaware it was the dressing room alarm! Pure slapstick!

But the floodlights are expsensive and if you have a spare

It used to be an intermittent problem as and when fuses wore out but for some reason the problem has got worse over the last 18 months or so. Given that nothing had changed in terms of usage we couldn't get to the bottom of the problem until we employed the services of a specialist electrician who set up a monitoring device which worked out the usage 24/7 over a one week period. His findings were that the new O2 installation was taking a lot of our capacity when in fact they should have been taking none at all! It seems they had a problem with their agreed supply route when building the new installation and instead of informing us they just agreed with the electricity board to take a branch off our supply cable.

Now we actually know what the problem is we can do something about it and, as Peter said in the programme, negotiations are ongoing with O2 to get it sorted before the commencement of the season including the threat of possible court injunctions against O2 if they fail to act rapidly. The short-term answer may be to link the floodlights supply seperately to their own generator [which may be installed as early as next week] which will reduce the output required and keep it within the levels that the supply is geared up for.

Unfortunately a 32kw floodlight system is not the sort of thing you can sort out with a 3 amp household fuse and we've had quotes between 20 & 50 thousand pounds for a new transformer, cabling works, fitting, etc, so you can understand why the club isn't willing [or able] to pay out those sorts of funds when someone else is clearly responsible for the problem.

In the meantime please don't assume that nothing is being done about it as it's become quite a complex issue which will take some sorting out. Nobody at the club is happy with the situation so please bear with us.

As for Tuesdays' game I hope any QPR fans who live locally would have seen enough good football from Windsor to make the effort to come back again when they can't get to a QPR game.

It wasn't dark at all chaps, it's the height of summer and at nine in the evening in the summer it is certainly still light!

As for the football, it was a good game. A good WEFC side playing a good QPR side and Windsor certainly showed they could hold their own against QPR for much of them game and continued to challenge through out.

I'll be back as many of the regulars will have heard me drunkenly repeat at the Stag & Hounds!
