Danny Stubbs opened the scoring from 25 yards only for Whitstable to score from a goal mouth scramble in the last minute. Pat Mullin was in goal first half, Paul Agu second.

More than happy to be corrected but I think team was...

GK Pat Mullin (Paul Agu h-t)

RB Tom Hickman (capt) (Danny Stokes 2nd)

LB Justin Roach

CB Louis Smith (Dominic (?) xxxxx h-t)

CB Dan Young (capt in 2nd)

RM Jay Peak (Paul Axon h-t)

CM Wayne Wilson

CM Dan Stubbs

LM Aaron Quain (James Gregory 2nd)

ST Sol Pinnock (Kenny Pratt h-t)

ST Luke Coleman (Joe Taylor h-t)

..quick look on Google shows Pinnock as ex-Fisher and Roach ex-Southall (not Neville).

Result maybe did not matter to much, but would say that whitstable were better team first half and Margate the better team in second.

Margate had a bit of oomph about them in second half-never looked like scoring in the first, but was impressed by the very young Joe Taylor and Kenny pratt in the second - both individually and as a pair-were not afreaid to mix it up.

Of the 'new trialists'-all did ok without really setting the house on fire.(exception Dominic who was very good i thought.

Of the 'old trialists'-wilson and stubbs did pretty well -individually and in particular as a pair-they do appear to work together well which was the biggest plus i saw in the evening.

Mention again though of defender-Dominic xxxx who looked a 'proper' defender and did really well.

Roach was ok at left back and would probably get better still-

Good to see Danny Young back-albeit trialling-but obviously needs games-did ok though.

Quite impressed by Gregory in his 20 minute appearance.

Looks like there area few players who can shoot from distance-probably a good thing as can't see how the goals will come otherwise-albeit -again-Pratt and Taylor did threaten more than most.(whose idea is it that whether fit or not that coleman is a centre forward-not in my book he is'nt-right midfield please).

Stubbs goal was probably the best goal you will see all season from MFC-great shot.

Overall though-we are obviously going to struggle this season-The Ryman league is a completely different kettle of fish to what was seen tonight.

You do get the impression though that BA does know how to coach a team ,and may get more out of the team that can be reasonably expected-so one keeps the faith that by fitness, organisation and coaching it may just be enough to keep us in the division

Scott is still with us & turns up at every game. He injured himself in a 5s match & it was hoped he would be ready for last night but he now says Saturday. We'll see.

He is under contract & is still very much a Margate player. All the above is from the man himself.

SCS as no:1 keeper with Mullins as no:2. Thats how I see it turning out in the goalkeeping department.

SCS is still with us and was at the ground on Saturday, I believe he is recovering from an injury so that is why he hasn't appeared. No apology needed Rob but very kind of you Ramsgate lads to take an interest in us! grin

Matt Bowles is better than him. To be honest I think he's a really poor goalkeeper and lost you a lot more games last season. Even thought he won you.. say 1 or 2.

SCS may have been at fault for a few goals but be assured he saved us on many, many occasions not just the 1 or 2.His shot stopping abilities will be required more this season than any other.
As for Bowles being a better keeper than SCS. Well, its obvious you are the one telling the jokes, though of course you are entitled to your opinion.
To be fair to Matt he wasn't seen as much as Scott & I take my hat off to Matt for hanging on in there but from the little I have seen of him he dosen't look in the same class as Scott. i.M.o
Mullins has experience at this level & has shown up well in friendlies. Looking confident & sharp as well as being vocal.

Spot on with the team by the way Jeff and good to see Michael there last night so he could see what the team is about this season, good summing up from him too of the game.

I personally was pleased to see Kenny and Joe get a run out last night and to see them play so well, especially Kenny. Two more to be signed up, even if only for the future IMO.

Based on what i have read, seen, know, imagine, saw last season;to me,Pratt and taylor look the only viable options as strikers (i'd have Peters in a 'free role' playing behind them ).

Youth or experience-when it comes down to it, you always follow the team; and last night did enough to whet the appetite. Its going to be a tough old season though.

See you at Carlshalton

Early days yet, I thought Justin Roach had a good game as number 3. Nice to hear the fans getting behind the youngsters, encouraging them, certainly made a difference to a couple.

How does a certain Whitstable player get away with so much fouling of the ball( Ramsgate trained?)
