Eton Wick vs Slough Town XI

After a shaky start, going 3-0 down in the first half and 3-1 down at half time, the team clicked into gear in the second half and won 8-3.

Roy Gumbs, Brian Connor, Tom Attrell, and John Ellis in the squad for Slough in a decent showing by the youngsters after a shaky start.

Was pretty much U18s plus those 4.

Stand out player for me was #8 (Not Raj Gill apprently!) always wanted the ball and made some good passes to spread the play. Needs to probably cut down on the long cross field ball though. Deserved his goals.

Stanley Mugisha looked very lively when he came on running at the defence and made alot of difference to the team.

Few other players looked like they had a good future and some nice football was played by them at times. Prolly didn't help that the 4 players were slotted in to the team mind.

The best two players for Slough were the 8 and 9. Both looked very good. But I thought all the youth players had a good touch, were good on the ball and looked to pass it around. Very good and will be taking in a few of their games during the course of the season.

To sum up:

Recognised players: Tom Attrell, Tom Windsor, John Ellis, Brian Conor, Roy Gumbs, Luke Van Spall (playe 1 game last season Vs Hillingodon) and Stan Mugisha as second-half sub.

Goalscorers: Unknown number 8 (2), Attrell (2), Windsor (2), Unknown sub (1), and unknown striker (1)

Started very nervous and were 3-0 down early on, but from then on controlled the match and played some really pleasing football.

Ones I liked the look of were our right back. The number 8 who Tom talks about (Not Raj Gill from last season by all accounts) and the striker who came off second half after scoring.

Would not mind seeing these 3 given a chance with the first team boys Tuesday. Healthy 80-100 or so there in attendance i'd say.

To give an honest opinion of the match, in the first half we were very much second best and gave away some sloppy goals to a workman-like Eton Wick.

Second half we took control of the game and played some nice stuff orchestrated by my MOM, think his name was Raj Gill but I might have heard players call him Sonny. Not sure if he's ready for the first team yet but a very bright prospect.

IMO the players that stood out tonight are Raj Gill, Tom Attrell, Stanley Mugisha, Roy Gumbs, Brian Connor, John Ellis and Tom Windsor.

a workmanlike eton wick? they were much the better team first half and the 2nd half owed alot to the fact that eton brought on a number of trialists at half time.

Anon, In simple terms I think you will find that the phrase 'we were very much second best' means you were much the better team.

Yeah was at the game last night and they looked like a whole new team. Watched some hellenic league action last season and they have some new players without doubt, the right winger in the first half was impressive, along with a couple of others. Think it was a good exercise for both sets of teams
