Margate 1 Great Wakering 2

1st Half

1 Pat Mullin (GK)

2 Tom Hickman (RB)

3 James Gregory (LB)

4 Wayne Wilson (CB)

5 Louis Smith (CB)

6 John Wilfort (CM)

7 James Peak (RW)

8 Triallist (CM)

9 Ross Cable (CF)

10 Ryan Peters (CF)

11 Aaron Quain (LW)

Fairly eneventful first half where I cannot recall the visitors having an attempt at goal. Wilson hit the bar with a 30 yard screamer and the triallist chipped just over.

2nd Half

1 Matt Bowles (GK)

2 Tom Hickman (RB)

3 James Gregory (LB)

14 Alan Heath (CB)

18 Wes Hamnmond (CB)

16 Kieron Morris (CM)

17 Paul Axon (RM)

12 Stubbs (CM)

19 Luke Coleman (CF)

10 Ryan Peters (CF)

15 Triallist 2 (LW)

Sub Curtis Robinson for Gregory (64)

Bowles saved a one-on-one with the number 11 at the start of the second half but was easily lobbed for the opener when he rushed out of goal on 70.

Peters skipped past a defender and levelled from the edge of the box on 75 but GWR's number 10 rounded Bowles to seal it on 80.

Wilson has been signed on a 2 year deal.

The first half triallist looks a bit older than everyone else so would imagine he has been around a bit. The second triallist looked a bit like Che Stadhart and was apparently at Deal but did not play.

wwilson.jpgPossibly the Wayne Wilson who has signed. Does look a bit like him and this was taken from the Bromley site.

* Date Of Birth: 12/09/85

* Previous Club: Basingstoke Town

* Position: Midfielder

Australian-born midfielder Wayne, better known to his teammates as Fred, was brought over to the UK by Charlton Athletic to join their academy in 2002. After three seasons with The Addicks, during which time he also featured for their reserves, he was released and has since had spells with Bishop

Very impressed with the first half. Tom Hickman was very good at right back and very vocal which I liked. The defence looked good in the first half. The central midfielder that hit the cross bar in the first half was pure class. A few good missed chances in the first half which would have told a totally different story. we looked strong in the air and some good crosses and passing play.

The second half was a complete different story. Didn't feel that my old mates Heath and Hammond were that convincing and the football didn't flow that well.

But I saw glimpses of a good side. Now with the addition of a couple I think we will do ok.

The one thing I didn't like was all the negativity going around. When will these people realise that they will not see over paid ageing, past there best footballers anymore and that this is the way forward. If they don't like it then maybe they will put there hands in there pockets and help the club. Quite frankly many of these people know jack [****!!****] about football.

Anyway thats it, rant over.

Well done lads and keep working hard.

Thought we played some good stuff in the first half and was unlucky not to take the lead through Wayne Wilson who hit the bar with a screamer. Ross Cable had two glorious chances in front of goal but just couldn't seem to score and like you said Steve I don't believe Great Wakering had a single shot on goal first half! Second half I thought we was quite poor, only players that stood out for me in the second half were Curtis Robinson and Danny Stubbs.

Quite impressed with the first half performance. Solid at the back; both full-backs, first and foremost, knew how to defend, but also supported the attack well. Smith and the other centre-back looked solid together and held a high line. As mentioned elsewhere, it meant GWR rarely, if at all, threatened.

Also looked strong in the challenge in midfield; two tough-tacklers in the centre (the blonde lad had an excellent game; thunderbolt shot on him and a good passer of the ball) and glimpses of quality from the wingers (one of whom was Quain). In attack, Peters, again, looked very good, and his pace was terrifying the opposition defence. Also, Peters really does have a good spring in his step and can outjump many who are significantly taller than him. The other forward in the first half, I'm afraid, was poor; he wasted good opportunities and looked very laboured.

Second half was a completely different story. With many changes at half-time, we lost our momentum. Didn't keep the ball as well and GWR were the better side. Bowles looked very nervous in goal and the two centre-backs both got caught of position on numerous occasions. The midfield offered little, with Axon and Morris, in particular, disappointing.

Having said that, all in all, I am much more confident than I was a few weeks back. Although I do not think we have a team of world-beaters, with our current squad, and possibly with a few new additions, we will certainly hold our own, I feel.

Would imagine that BA can take a lot away from this game. Bearing in mind a lot of the players on show, today, are just trialing for Margtae FC.

He's trying to find a few of them, that are up to this standard. Today certainly showed that some were probably not. Eventually BA will have the better footballers, at the club, and a strong squad for the start of the season.

Also, take into account, the players that aren't even on show yet in these games due to holidays and/or injuries/illnesses.

I heard quite a lot of pessimistic mutterings. Plus some others with a more broader outlook at what BA is having to achieve. I've got to agree with the latter. If BA finds a few good players out of these trialists, and adds them to the players that we've already got, the future will be bright for us all.

Mildly encouraged by first half. Had we had a decent centre forward we would have gone in two up at half-time. Was Ross Cable wearing someone else's boots? He ran like a 70-year-old and kept falling over. I thought Hickman played really well.

Second half was poor though. The rejigged centre of defence just wasn't up to it.

Spot on Coffin Ender.

Must admit looking forward to Wednesday night, at Whistable Town, as I understand that the likes of McAree and Corbishley are back from their holidays. The two will be able to show how well they work together, in tandem, down the right flank. Getting round the back and opening defences at will.

Bringing these in with the best of the players on show at the week-end and BA should already start to have a strong unit in place.

i thought Gregory, Wilson and No 15 were pretty good. Hammond and Cable were very poor in my opinion. Hickman, Peak and Stubbs looked quite eager to play, but didnt do anything that impressed me. Peters was awesome

but what do i know, i have an infected mosquito bite on my butt... and it isnt malaria...
