Reserve Friendly

Recommended Posts

Now that is a good idea, just a shame I will miss both games but will get a lot of fans being able to see our even younger lads too performing.

From what i have seen (Wheatley) and read (ollie Gray ),hopefully those guys will get a good run out in front of Mr Ashby this afternoon and impress accordingly.

A bit surprised that they are not on contract like some of the others in the reserves from last season

Sorry I was not there. I understand that there were quite a few "reserve" players so would guess that there were a few hopefulls. I have been told that there is another reserve friendly Tuesday 22nd which I should be going but it does not seem to be advertised so might not be correct as it clashing with first team friendly.

Should I get info on this one I will post.

2nd Half

Mark 'Bear' (GK)

N.Argyrides (CB) C.Albrecht (CB) L.Wheatley (CB)

J.Mcaree (RM) O.Keci (CM) A.Woodward (CM) J.Justice(CM)S.Gibson(LM)

J.Taylor (CF)(75Mins- replaced by Led) N.Moir (CF)

Sorry for any mis-spellings and any omissions.

I have to say that both teams had many youngsters, with the exception of Bays Gary Emanuelle (playing Centre forward??) lol.

Lack of prescence in midfield and Dan Hughes standing in at right back cost Gate dearly, and the game really was over in the first half.

In summary

1st Goal - Elliot Payne diving in, reckless challenge leading to a free kick on the edge of the Gate box.

No one following up HB player on the second ball, 0-1 to Bay.

2nd Goal - Dan Hughes caught flat footed, pulling the Bay player down from behind inside the box. Penalty 0-2.

3rd Goal - Gate goal kick, Dan Hughes missed header, their forward then cut inside chaz Albrecht and slotted the ball past the gate keeper 0-3

Gate Goal Ball played into Chris Lewis's feet he turned inside to score a well made goal. 1-3

I am a fan of Dan Hughes, but playing him out of position at right back lost us the game and done the lad no favours at all.

A much more solid performance second half.

Despite chasing the game, in all fairness we missed a couple of chances.

On the positive side this is what pre-season is all about, looking at different players and seeing where they fit in.

Well done lads for never giving up.

Yes -it was he first game of the season for most of these guys,yes-it was only a friendly ,results don't matter-blah blah blah- (same applies to Herne bay i guess),but i thought i would just make the observation, that 5 of our first team squad played in this game and we appear to have been outplayed.

Mark Beresford the keeper then. Albion Athletic keeper on Sundays. Last year's champions and the same club where Dover's Sam Jones came from.

MM apparently Southall was watching Dover v Dagenham at Crabble.

Glad Southall was watching Dover-i trust the message will get through that there is quality in the Ryman-on a par with most of Ryman south teams;and that MFC currently have a longway to go in terms of team building to be competitive next season.

Still 3 and a half weeks though
