For those who don't believe that MyFC members ....

..can possibly love the Fleet like what we do.

this is taken from a thread on the politics site that gives reasons why they will or won't renew:

Everything that costs money has to have a value to make it worthwhile. MYFC membership cost me 35 quid (70 dollars actually) and it is when I put it into perspective regarding that value I have gotten from it I realise very quickly -- it's one of the best 35 quids I've ever spent. I've gotten so many things out of this last 7 months that MYFC membership is actually one of the best bargains I have ever had found.

Here are some of the great things I have gotten out of this 35 quid:

1, Many new Friends

2, Some new [****!!****] too (but still fun to know)

3, A reaquaintence with good and generally honest footy -- I had lost my love of the game in recent years.

-- Watching the Ebbsfleet games has been a sheer joy for me; none of that diving bollox every few seconds.

4, The arguing; the angst ridden forums that make you laugh, cry or shake your head in disbelief on a daily basis -- whatever the emotion, it's great soap opera.

5, An association with a football club I previously knew nothing about, but now want to know as much as possible.

6, A feeling that even though things aren't exactly as I expected them to be, or aren't as exactly as I would like them to be, this project, this community that is MYFC is still an unchartered water that, as we increasingly find our feet on a daily basis, will only continue to break old moulds and create new boundaries.

7, People can bitch about what level of involvement they want to see and what we should see, but the only truth is... WE ARE INVOLVED, and in ways that have never been attempted in football before. If you're reading this message. YOU ARE INVOLVED.

8, My MYFC membership allowed me to share a run to Wembley that was as fascinating as it was wonderful. Imagine me, a life long Derby fan (no jokes, bastards) sitting in our game room having carried my laptop from the bedroom cos I needed a ciggy as the final minutes were playing out, cursing the screen loudly when Long missed a golden chance to bury the game. My wife came in running as she thought I'd had a bloody heart attack due to the noisy exasperation. You can't pay enough for emotion like that; you can't pay enough to come to care about something like that...... and why, cos I paid my 35 quid in January.

MYFC has given me the kind of exposure to enjoy footy again, something I haven't done for 5 or 6 years. [****!!****], I can go and spend almost 35 quid when I buy a carton of cigarettes, which really does put it into perspective for me.

So, have I got value for my money? -- to the point where I feel I have underpaid hugely.

These are just some of the reason I will be renewing; some of the reasons I am emotionally invested in MYFC, and some of the reasons I want this to succeed in the long term. Without doubt, this boy will be renewing.

Spread the word!!!!

Haretewson is an american member of MyFC and should be made very welcome as a new fan of the Fleet.

We always wanted more fans and now we have got them, they won't all feel the same attachment that Haretewson clearly does but then neither do all of pre-MyFC fans.

They aren't all monsters and we aren't all angels, they can be, and many clearly are, just as fanatical as we are.

I agree.

It's a great post from the guy and it's certainly the right attitude to have, but he could be talking about part owning any non league football club. It doesn't necessarily show that he has a true love for the Fleet.

He could have had the same benefits from any number of clubs, and not just non-league clubs but he didn't. Thanks to MyFC he has found it with the Fleet. Without MyFC he probably wouldn't have found it anywhere....that doesn't make it any less real.

He is not alone, there are over 30,000 members of MyFC, of course they haven't all connected like Haretewson but significant numbers have. We will probably find out how many in February, I am not a gambling man but I think we will find that we have more 'genuine' fans from MyFC than we have from Non-MyFC.
