Thamesmead friendly

I am pretty sure that the mystery strikers name was Michael someone.

i thought the mystery 6'2'' centre back-who was quite sharp qwith ball at feet aswell- though his name was Sam 'someone'.

Mystery replacement centre half who came on for smith at half time was either Alan or Mike McCleary-whose dad is also surprisingly called Mr MccLeary.

First half thamesmead were better side.Second half, i though margate just shaded it.

Difficult to say whp played well in just 45 minute run outs.

Wilson did well.Stubbs did well.

Hickman shouted well !!

Pinnock in second half had plenty of running in him.

!st half centre half looked ok -although not hugely tested.

Mystery striker-very good

2 first half players did particularly poorly i thought-but unfair to name them -do think they are both overated though for various reasons.

Midfield looks alot better when you have wilson and stubbs on pitch at same time.

Nick Moir only on for 25 minutes but looked quite lively.

Have to say that maybe he had an off day-but Peters loked forlorn and disinterested-hopefully i have interpreted that entirely incorrectly.

The No 10-mystery striker-was a bit more mature than most-mid twenties-and his 'experience' showed-reasonable class-looked ryman premiership capable and had a bit of muscle about him -we really miss that.Looked a proper player-would like to see him signed pdq.

I thought Justin Roache who came on at half time looked pretty capable (why is Robinson not getting first team run outs ?),but again-how many left backs do we need .

I was disappointed in Thamesmead-yes they were as good as us-but i thought they would be alot better.(i read acdc thought they were quite good-how opinions differ!).

Interesting 10 minute cameo from Paul Smith-i think we have fitter players but he can play a simple ball well

The thing that is worrying me most at moment is that all our friendlies are against the same standard of opposition-and from the two games i have seen-Whitsttble and thamesmead-they are nothing like the standard of ryman premier.

Goal we conceded was a typical margate defensive lapse-through ball through the middle, attacker holds off defender and lobs over scott-another case of defenders leaving too wide a gap between them-however-defence was a bit 'makeshift' in second half and at least we only conceded one goal.

I really think carlshalton will provide a very rude awakening as it is a completely different standard and intensity.

Overall, i was encouraged after whitstable, but left somewhat dishearteded yesterday,as it seems we have progressed little -whar 'progress' has actually been made since the first friendly.

It seemmed to me yesterday that we were playing a game for the sake of playing a game-as opposed to learning from it-i trust BA saw it entirely differently.

Having said that-as a result of yesterday-if the mystery striker-who is no longer a mystery-is signed- then that is a big result.
