Back page headline; BLUES FAVOURITES FOR DROP.

Says the balance of power has shifted to Ramsgate 12\1 as Margate are 50\1 and that Ashby is finding it tough to sign anyone on the new budget although we have big names on the management team. Not a lot else really, big article on local player Lee Hook now at Eastbourne Boro'.

Best we just not bother then even watching Margate this year as a group of bookies basing their odds on the fact we are an unknown quantity tell us we have no chance

With Danny Ward telling us that "bookies dont tell lies" we are doomed of course

We have seen bookies get it wrong on lots of occasions so you never know

Slight difference in views here:

Mr D Ward says-they never tell lies.

Mr Ashby says-never trust a bookmaker.

All good fun !!

I do have to say that notwithstanding the -'still 4 weeks to go';we do need to see Mr Ashby start to 'deliver' some signings to negate the views of the bookies. The club need to find a way to support him financially if needs be.(words of course are cheap and finding it is alot different ).With the vital money from the cup competitions also available, sometimes tyou do need to speculate just a` small amount extra to potentially reap the rewards.

Surely, it will be a complete disaster if we do go down;with the management structure as it is.

If some signings have been made-for heavens sake-tell us-it gives most supporters such an uplift.

Surely all the rumours can't be wrong !,although the comon theme in BA's last two updates is that he is struggling to get players.

Maybe this is as good as it is going to get and 'what we see is what we get'.

At least we have a squad, and with great coaching and organisation, who can tell what will be achieved.

Up the 'Gate

A bit sad when the bookies make the headlines.

At least a local player has made some column inches - was it Lee Hook's father that played for, and managed, Ramsgate. Wasn't he a good keeper too?

Perhaps the Gazette would be better negotiating with both Thanet clubs and doing some features on the new players, especially those who have come through whatever youth systems we have.

Might generate a bit of interest locally and at least it is better than being doom mongers.

Thanks BGA.

You see, I look at it like this - when I was a kid nothing would have given me greater pleasure (well almost) than playing at Hartsdown, for Margate, alongside people like Peter Vandepeer, Terry Joyce, Vic Pilcher and so many others and perhaps in a rather old fashioned way I think that some of the youngsters today might even harbour the same feelings. At least they should be encouraged to know what they are part of and the traditions they are following.

I'm a Margate exile, and have only this morning been promoting Margate up here in South East London, no-one gets away from me easily if there is a chance to promote us.

There has been a lot said about the budget and how many cuts we need. However with the summer break half way through there has not been one fundraising event by the club, surely with no wages to pay at this time of year any fundraising would have been welcome income.

Lee's dad Peter was indeed a good keeper spending a lot of time at Deal Town and had a spell as Rams manager before Ward.

Alan I realise that, but I was talking about the club itself. Once again supporters have given up their time to get the ground ready and supporters have been raising funds. Surely something could have been arranged to raise funds. What about a sponsored 5 a side competition like the one to open the facility. The amount of money taken by the bar would have boosted funds.

Sorry Steve, misunderstood you. Regarding the Golden Gate launch will hopefully see Tam at Deal and will ask the latest news.
