Dunno about you, but I think the one on Saturday about Liam Hatch will take some beating.. To the tune of Jesus Christ - Superstar..

 

Liam Hatch, Superstar,

He scores for the Fleet , and he'll clean your car !

 

Seemed to originate from the top right hand corner of the home end . Pure quality..

 

Anyone else heard better this season ?

Two disappointments re. the Liam anthem:

 

1. I didn't catch it, as I was hob nobbing in the centre stand

 

2. I cannot claim authorship (& won't try to, as plagarism is a major crime in the music business)

 

Let's hear more of it next season - & at a level where it can be heard everywhere in the ground. Everything it should be: simple, witty & with a distinctive melody.

Good to see that the Seashell has crawled out from under his rock and is back on the board now that the spirit of Gladnost has returned.

Keep 'em coming, much better than those old ones about Canvey...

 

Overheard the aforementioned songwriters trying to put one together to the tune of 1 man went to mow.

 

It went something like,

 

1 man tried to stop, tried to stop Mark Bentley

1 man and and his dog spot, tried to stop Mark Bentley.

 

It then seemed to lose its way, until a rebel rousing last chorus of :

 

10 men tried to stop, tried to stop Mark Bentley,

10 men and their dog spot, COULDN'T stop Mark Bentley.

 

Can't see it catching on tho' , the one about liam is much better.
