Pick The Team - Dead in the water

Recommended Posts

Of course I've deleted posts on there, as I have on here. What I'm saying is that Will Brooks was not involved in the Conversation that led to Tinman being banned for 48 hours. It was in fact 5 members of the forum team. No one else. Tinman is no longer banned btw

Darter, Sometimes that's the case. There was an incident the other week where one guy (can't remember who) had felt slighted and demanded a public apology from another member. After getting it, he still went on and on and started hurling personal abuse at the guy, calling him a racist or something. He was eventually banned for 48 hours (I think) and then told to apologise to the member or be banned until he did so. I though it was pretty reasonable to be honest

Tinman, If you weren't here adding accurate observations to these forums I would have left by now. The only thing is I don't know is whether to like you or loathe you for this extended infliction

fans running the club? i bought into it. i don't believe that is happening.

Other than having 7 fans on the board of the trust who own the club, 5 of whom are lifelong fans and a CEO appointed from within the membership, your right, fans and members have absolutely no say in what's going on.

Quoting: Tinman

i almost gave blood just to get children through the same gate as mum and dad for [****!!****] sake. that little no brainer was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

If as you say, you've been going for years, then you'll know that this has always been an issue. But now, it's been sorted, you've even got the CEO saying it's down to you. But you're right, fans aren't running the club of course.

Quoting: Tinman

that's not running a football club.

What does that mean anyway? Did you apply for the CEO job? Then you could have 'run' the club. As it is, you can have an influence, and get things done. And as the sign proves, it's something you couldn't do before MyFC came along. So it's not all bad! Have a good day on the forums.

volunteering your time to paint the hoardings and erect goalposts is not running the club. i'm not criticising those people i'm simply pointing out that isn't running a football club.

I wasn't refering to volunteers, I was refering to the number of guys in and around the ground, presumably employed, the people who can be spoken to, who have been around for years from whose dialog we can gauge what is and isn't required. I understand just tipping a few quid in isn't running a club but niether is constantly berating everything that doesn't suit

unfortunately whether you realise it or not your own input is heading this way too.

Don't be daft. I read it, twice, quoted it, and pointed out that you had totally contradicted yourself (at the expense of generally slagging things off, slagging the WT off and being negative). I'm pleased that jverlander also sees that your input is a waste of time.

jverlander, i don't understand your point. i have no intention of antagonising you here, i'm genuinely not getting what you're driving at.

Just run the site Will. Stop telling me, and others, what we can and can't do, eh? If you don't agree with my opinion so what? Let it go. You've got work to do. And, I really don't give a flying one what you or any of the WT have to say. You just annoy me.

Chris, I remember the incident, but that was a one member on another member thing. My beef is with those who try to silence critics of The State. It is our right to say as we wish about how it is run, it is our forum, there is no forum without the members ...

This forum we are posting on now allows far more criticism and is far more free-flowing, IMO.

I don't see where you're coming from. That proves nothing and can't, because what you're saying is a load of w@nk. I never said that they didn't have a row, I said that Will Brooks had nothing to do with the guy's banning. It was 5 members of the forum team, no one else... I don't know how many times I need to say it?

And quite what my moderating on the myfc website has to do with moving your pointless bollox on here to the pub is lost on me wink

The Tinman thread posted above by Uncs is symptomatic of what is wrong. The MyFC site relaunched last week with a new forum called "Soapbox" - now, doesn't that suggest to you that you can have a moan and a grumble in there? Well, we were doing - between us members - until Will and his 2 best boys decided to come in and argue the toss. Then it all got very unpleasant and personal.

Tinman is often extreme in his expression, but what he is saying is right. Will Brooks should not think he has to come onto the MyFC forum and defend himself everytime a member wants to post critically. He is called the Operator - that should give him a clue about his role ... he is not called Defender of the Faith grin

I don't think that happens as much as people like to make out. There's a 9 page thread called Myfc? My [****!!****] more like it, a 15 page thread asking why people wanna leave and a 10 page thread about why people who want to PTT will not vote. These threads are all criticizing the way things are run and are pretty much left alone.

The forum here may be a little looser, but it's had years to grow and there have been many times in the past where many posts, threads and members have had to be removed. But there are a whole lot less people on here than myfc so it's easier.

Hmmm, you are paying to use a service, therefore you have to play by their rules...

I kinda get the feeling that a lot of MyFC members no longer use the 'official' forum for the reasons that have been quoted here, but instead are using places like this so they can be honest and put what they want, rather than what they are allowed!

If enough of 'you' got together, could you not decide to vote for another operator?
